Will Artificial Intelligence Replace Human Labor?

Over the past few years, especially in the 21th century, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) has been seemingly more and more common. Many modern AI assistants can help out a lot in daily life, and technology had proved itself worthy. Some daily AI assistants include Siri, Alexa, Google, Microsoft autopilot, ChatGPT, Bing, and much more. Cooking robots, face ID, fingerprint ID, self-driving cars, cleaning robots, and more have been introduced more recently, and they can enhance many aspects of life, and make lots of things much more convenient. Along with the rapid expansion of AI technology, there are both pros and cons of having AI replace many things that require humans right now. Benefits of AI can include being able to help people with many tasks, doing things faster, and even more accurately. Downsides of AI include not being as creative as humans, having a higher percentage of being wrong, can cause over-reliance, and can take up a lot of time and space.

There are many advantages that come with using AI in daily life, and it can be especially useful when one needs to get something done with increasing efficiency. Working effectively takes a lot of energy, and it can often be troublesome for people, especially those who need to get a lot of things done. AI can help increase one’s efficiency in doing many activities, and it can often help them achieve more. Around the world, 64% of businesses expect AI to increase productivity, and a further 42% expect AI to streamline their job processes. AI is also expected to see an annual growth of about 37% from 2023-2030, which is an astonishing 110% in just 7 years. Examples of companies currently using AI include many of the top technology companies in the world, like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Apple, and many more. According to Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, “These AI tools will help us be more productive, healthier, smarter, and more entertained.” This shows the benefits and productiveness that the new AI has on people. Increasing efficiency can be hard to achieve, but AI makes it much easier to do so while also maintaining accuracy and quality.

Reducing human errors is a reason why AI can be so well-known, where it is not only fast at completing tasks, but is also done is a way that increases quality and accuracy as well. AI  can help with many things, and since accuracy is a very important aspect in life, it is also designed to enforce and reduce human errors. Having accurate data and information can be very important to achieve many things, and having a daily assistant can really help than rather doing it physically by hand. In a survey, 80% of businesses in the US had stated that AI has helped them with decision-making accuracy. Another study found that AI chatbots have a 90% accuracy rate when answering questions. For example, if an AI system is designed to classify images of animals, its accuracy is the percentage of images that it correctly labels as cats, dogs, birds, fish, etc. According to Ajay Agrawal, “Prediction machines is not a recipe for success in the AI economy. Instead, we emphasize the trade-offs. More data means less privacy. More speed means less accuracy. More autonomy means less control.” AI doesn’t only increase efficiency, but it also reduces errors that are likely to be made by humans, therefore making it more productive overall.

Availability and cost reduction is always very important, especially in businesses, and it can sometimes even determine the outcome of what might happen. Availability can have a great impact, especially when it comes to finance and money, and one really need to find adjusting prices to products, and catch up with availability as well. AI is able to find and operate fitting and reasonable ways for the business to keep running, especially when it comes to marketing and finance. According to a recent survey, AI can improve business efficiency by up to 40% by reducing operational costs by 30%. Also 54% of customers state that organizations are having a decrease in prices due to AI. Some businesses state that AI can help improve efficiency and availability at a business by simplifying complex ideas and also by extracting key ideas and insights that might be very important. According to Tim Cook, “What all of us have to do is to make sure we are using AI in a way that is for the benefit of humanity, not to the detriment of humanity.” This shows the real meaning and intention of what AI is meant to do, including how it is intended to help with humanity. Cost reduction and availability is always very important, and although it can be hard to always know what to do, AI makes it much easier.

There are many benefits with AI, and many of them fit together, like increasing efficiency, reducing errors, and reducing cost and increasing availability. Around the world, 64% of businesses expect AI to increase productivity, and a further 42% expect AI to streamline their job processes.
