Why Do We Live Here?

My hometown is the city of Shanghai, the brightest star of all the stars along the East Bank of China. Neighboring countries include 14 sovereign states. The terrain is diverse in China with mostly mountains along with deserts in the west and plains in the east. Principal rivers flow west to east including the Yangtze and Huang He rivers. Every place’s natural resources affect the number of people there, and so is Shanghai. Shanghai has a definite four seasons, so you can even tell the difference between late autumn and early winter! Mostly, there are cities and towns and not many natural things, so mostly the rivers are the only natural resources. There are also minerals and many animals, too.

Shanghai does not have many natural resources, but there are a lot of rivers and streams. There, we can always get lots of freshwater service, and when we warm up for a bath it just takes a minute to get it ready, unlike some places, where there is not much water, and taking a bath might just be once a week’s privileges! But in Shanghai, we can always get all the water we need, but still not waste it (because water costs money). The Huangpu River, where the Nanpu Bridge is built on, is just in Shanghai. There are also a lot of animals and creatures in the rivers. That is why the rivers and the bodies of water are considered the most natural resources of Shanghai.

There are also many minerals in Shanghai, and many types of metal there. Since the 70ths, many people came to Shanghai to search for gas minerals, and in many places they found what they came for. In the East Sea of China and the land near it, there are a lot of gas minerals, and it is one of the best places in China to search for minerals. In the South Yellow Sea, with the help of scientific search, there are also places where gas minerals are quite common, and can usually be found. Most minerals in China are in the northern part of the country, and Shanghai is the border of the northern part and the southern part, so in many Shanghai places like Suzhou, we can find minerals.

Shanghai also has a lot of animals and creatures, and animals, even though most of where people, including me, are living. Shanghai has a lot of zoos, all animal friendly, with lots of activities and things to do. There are even small tunnels of water where we can see penguins swimming around in some oceanariums, and birds flying in parks that are nature friendly. There are also pandas in China, but not in Shanghai. Sometimes, we can also see fish swimming around the rivers and lakes, and in most hotels, just outside the lobby there is a small pond, and there are always red or yellow fish swimming inside the pond. Shanghai’s animals are definitely part of nature, part of the world’s natural resources.

Shanghai is a great place in China and the whole world, and even though it has more cities than nature, people choose to live here. Some people even mistake Shanghai for Beijing, which is the capital city. But Shanghai has some natural resources too, including water, minerals, and animals. When I grow up, I think I will continue to live in Shanghai, but still travel around the world and see new things, and not just like a frog, who is staying in a hole, but never goes out and just think that the sky is only how big the opening of the hole is. Also, other places in the world have their own pros and cons, so we shouldn’t judge them by their cover. I really think Shanghai is a great place, both to stay in, and visit.
