The Most Attractive Adventure in Thirty-Nine Steps

The man-on-the-run book Thirty-Nine Steps, was written by the author John Buchan. Thirty-Nine Steps is most famous because ist was the first man-on-the-run book ever written. This genre is for books with people running away from things, the whole story. This book starts off with talking about the boredom of life. One day a neighbor comes into his house claiming to fear for his life. This man later reveals his name is Franklin P. Scudder., a freelance spy. One day, Hannay finds Scudder lying dead in his house. Hannay chose to run away because the police would think that he was the murderer of Scudder. While running away from people trying to catch him, he faces a lot of risks and challenges on the way. Many of the risks show the creativity and braveness of Hannay. A risk that makes this story more attractive is when Hannay takes Marmaduke’s clothes and car to run away.

Comedic parts are often the greatest touches of stories. Comedic means that it is funny. This risk that he takes has some humor in it. This risk is humorous because he threatened his enemy that he was going to murder him if he didn’t let him take his clothes and car. Even though he wasn’t the real murder, he still threatened Marmaduke as if he was. Marmaduke, who was trying to call the police, eventually got scared and let Hannay steal his clothes and his car. This disguise eventually helped Hannay hide from the police. Humor can often relieve the intensity of the story and helps the reader take a break from all the action going on in the story. It will help the reader feel refreshed and want to read more of the story. This kind of humor in the story can help the reader spark some happiness and make the intense man-on-the-run book better and more attractive.

Creative people who think outside of the box often have interesting and unique ideas that will leave readers thinking. Hannay was very creative in thinking of a way to convince Marmaduke to give him his clothes and car. His creative thinking solution to overcome this problem is shown in many parts of this story. For example he used creativity as a way to better get off the opponents’ tracks by jumping off the train in the middle of two stops. This time he intimidated Marmaduke threatening to kill him, even though he wasn’t even the murder. With more creative characters in stories, there would be unique ideas. Creative stories may surprise readers about things that they haven’t thought about. Creative ideas in stories stand up a lot and make books more attractive and memorable for the readers.

Intensity will always keep readers on their toes, ready to read more of the book. When Hannay met Marmaduke, they were very horrible enemy’s. Marmaduke was about to call the police to imprison Hannay. Readers may think that Marmaduke will successfully catch Hannay, only if he didn’t get tricked by Hannay. Intense moments in books make stories more exciting. Conflict mostly comes from tension between characters as a story. John Bucan uses intensity in a lot of risks in this story. For example, when Hannay finds out that an aeroplane is hunting him down, which starts off the hunt between the police men and Hannay. This part is when the main character actually sees what he is facing and how powerful his opponent is. In fact, most of the book is intense. Behind the comedic and creative parts of this risk, there is also some intensity behind all of it.

In the book, Thirty-Nine Steps there are many risks that Hannay makes. One risk that stands out the most and makes the greatest contribution is when Hannay takes Marmaduke’s car and clothes away. This risk adds humor to the story, states how Hannay creatively solved his problem, and gives more intensity in the story. In this risk Hannay tricked his enemy, Marmaduke into thinking that he will kill him. This makes his enemy look like just a coward, not someone to care about. This part is very humorous to some readers reading it. Hannay is very creative in thinking of this idea to trick Marmaduke. Also this moment in the story is a pretty intense part for the characters and the readers too. Intensity enhances books and is a key element to every book. The Thirty-Nine Steps is an action pact book with many risks that the main character has to face, which makes this book an attractive adventure.
