Story Review of Wolf

Basic elements:

Characters: A wolf, a pig, a cow, and a duck

Setting: In a little town

Plot: A hungry wolf is looking for food in a little town.

Genre: Fantasy

The story “Wolf” written by Becky Bloom and illustrated by Pascal Biet talks about a hungry wolf who wandered into a little town. The wolf went to the farm to find food and he saw animals reading, he was pushed away, because he was not educated. He wanted to be educated, so he went to school, but the other animals were not impressed. After that, he went to the public library to study long and hard, but he read without emotion, tempo, or pause. Therefore, he went to the bookshop to buy a storybook and read it day and night. In the end, the other animals admired him and invited to a picnic. After a while, they decided to become storytellers and travel around the world.

First, I learned that if you are close to a good friend, you might become good, if you are close to an evil friend, you might become evil. Your friend will have a certain influence over you, if your friend is good, they will have a good effect on you, which might help you to become good, but if your friend is evil, they will have a bad effect on how you behave. In the story, the wolf was bad at first, but in the end, after he was with his friends, he became good. His good, educated friends influenced him and taught him to be good by telling him to read a more advanced book, so the wolf kept going to read, therefore he became good and educated. So, evil friends will destroy our lives, but good friends will help us make our lives successful.

Secondly, I learned that education is not just only about knowledge, it is also about manners. Being educated means that you have much knowledge and have good manners, if you have much knowledge, but have bad manners, then you are not educated. In the story, the wolf had bad manners and didn’t know much knowledge, but after he went to school and studied, his manners became good and he knew a lot. He got educated in manners and learning through going to school and studying books. So, someone who is educated must have good manners and much information.

Last but not least, I learned that skill comes only with practice, patience, and persistence. Practice makes perfect, you can only obtain a skill by practicing, being patient, and never giving up. In the story, the wolf practiced hard in reading, was patient in his reading, and never gave up. In the end, he got the skill of reading well and earned the other animals friendship and admiration because of it. So, if you want to obtain a skill, then you need to practice, be patient, and never give up.

This story talks about a wolf who learns to read and succeeds in winning the admiration of some other animals who learned to read too. The wolf and the other animals made friends and they decided to become storytellers. This story teaches people that being good or bad depends on your friends, education is about knowledge and manners, and practice makes perfect. I recommend more people read this book.
