Story Review of There’s Nothing Like Baseball

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Emma. Before she could play baseball, she still loved it. In the morning, she would wake up, and think about base ball, and it makes her happy. But, one day, she wants to be a shortstop, but her friend Jamal also wants to be one. One night, Emma had a dream, she was happy in it, but Jamal wasn’t. After, baseball doesn’t make her happy anymore. But after all, none of them was a shortstop.

First, I learn that friends and family are the most important, because they take care of you, and give you joy. They give you what you need, and be there when you need them. In the story Emma says there’s nothing like baseball at soccer practice. I think that she is wrong because, her family could save her when she’s in big trouble, but, baseball can’t do anything to help. That’s why friends and family is the most important, more important than baseball.

Second, I learn that it is good for your friend to be on your team, because the game will be funnier. If you lost in the game, your friend could say don’t worry it is fine, and if you win in the game he, or she will cheer for you, they could also practice with you. In the story Emma got really exited when Jamal was on her team! I think that is good, because you will have better relationships with your friend, and teammates, and be more confident. That’s why it is good for your friend to be on your team.

Third, I learn that the author’s writing skill is to make the reader guess. She makes the reader guess so, that she could make more beautiful sentences, and hook the reader. In the story, she doesn’t say that the whole family plays baseball, she gives hints to the reader so they can guess it easily. I think that is right, we could use these writing skills to make our texts more beautiful. That is the writing skill of the author.

I think you should read this book! It teaches you many lessons like: you could choose something else when your friend wants the same thing, it is good for your friend to to be on the same team as you, and you should never ever give up a skill. It is about a girl who liked baseball but, after she wanted the same thing as her friend, and she didn’t like it too much, but neither of them got their wish, and she liked it again.
