The story The Little Prince, written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, talks about a pilot meeting a golden-haired little prince in a desert. A boy had just drawn a boa constrictor who had just swallowed an elephant. But adults mistake it for a hat. They suggest him to do something useful. So he became a pilot. After his plane crashes in the desert, he encounters the little prince, who shares his journey. He had a rose, which he watered and cared for, the feelings changed when she lied to him, but when the prince was about to leave, they changed to love again. On the way, he met some pretty ridiculous adults, the king, the conceited man, the lamp lighter, the geographer, the businessman, their jobs are all unreasonable and meaningless. When he comes to earth no one is there, and the little prince thinks that he has landed on the wrong planet. He met many roses and was disappointed that there were so many because his rose always boasted that she was the only rose. He also meets a fox and tames it. He told him that the rose was special to him because he spent time and care on it. Then goes off, meets some more ridiculous adults, and meets the pilot. They went to find some water, and they found it and drank the fresh water. The next day, the pilot comes to meet the prince, and he says he wants to go home. At night he slips off and the pilot catches up, he dies due to a snake bite. And returns to his own planet.
Imagination is essential, and children have better imaginations than adults, their openness and curiosity make them have more vivid imaginations. Children are more open-minded, and they still have much to learn. On the other hand, adults know more, so they stick to the facts, which narrows their minds. In the story, the little prince understands the narrator's drawing of the boa constrictor. But the adults only see a hat. The picture did look like a hat, so the adults thought it was a hat. However, children see with their hearts and have vivid imaginations. Immediately, they know it's a snake. Just like the Little Prince did. Children are very open-minded, welcoming every possibility of the future to drift into their minds. In contrast, adults focus on the facts and are so busy with work that they have no time to imagine.
Life can be meaningless for some adults because they have meaningless jobs, which can be very stressful. Many people have problems in their lives, meaningless jobs might be strict, so they get themselves in trouble or get themselves tired for nothing. In the story, the King, the Conceited Man, the Drunkard, the Businessman, the Lamplighter, and the Georgrapher work hard every day. Their work may seem really important and they may seem to be working really hard, but they're just tiring themselves for nothing. They are working where there's only themselves to help. The lamplighter seems to be working hard, but he's lighting the lamp for no one. Similarly, the geographer too, saw nothing, he only heard from explorers. Many spend their lives on meaningless things.
True love is when one takes care of it and spends time with it, it's when one feels responsible for it. One protects it from harm and that's when one truly loves it. Love and responsibility are crucial in life, it's very important to understand them. In the story, the prince takes care of the rose and they discover they love each other. The little prince watered the rose and talked to her, he protected her from the world. Because he spent so much care and time on the rose, he love her, he feel responsible for her. When someone spends time and care for another person, they become special to them and feel responsible for them.
