Story Review of The Gold Cadillac

The Gold Cadillac talks about a father who sold his Mercury car for a golden cadillac and shows it to his family. The father, Wilbert, messes up and becomes too over excited. He told everyone he got a golden Cadillac, his daughters Lois and Wilma, and his wife, Dee. The daughters were thrilled, excited and joyful. However, the mother Dee was not very happy with Wilbert’s decision. She argued that their old car, the Mercury, was not even a year old and he sold it for a cadillac. She said they had agreed to save the money to buy a new house. So mother was not approving of father wanting to ride the new cadillac to Mississippi and back to meet his grandparents. She said it was dangerous and extremely risky to drive a new and expensive car to mississippi. But father did to listen to mother. However, when he drove across the Mississippi roads with Lois and Wilma, he got caught by the police. Father at first was confused as he has not done anything wrong. But, it turns out Mississippi was a white and discriminating country disallowing ‘colored’ people. The police were white, and blamed father for stealing the Cadillac. When father angrily told them it was his own cadillac, they didn’t believe him and took father to the police station. Mother, Wilma and lois were extremely frgithened about what happened. The gold Cadillac has many important themes to discuss.

Always listen to our family member’s advice, they always know whats best for you. Family members are the most loyal people in our lives, and we should most of the time always understand and act out what they say to us. We know this from the experience of Wilbert the father of Lois and Wilma. Father did not listen to mother saying it was too dangerous to ride the car to Mississippi, and he did not listen to uncles and aunts either. Even his neighbors tried to convince him it was too dangerous, but he still stayed too stubborn to agree with his family. The text proves this by saying; “My uncles argued with him and tried to talk him out of driving the car south. So did my aunts and so did the neighbors, Mr. LeRoy, Mr. Courtland, and Mr. Pondexter. They said it was a dangerous thing, a mighty dangerous thing, for a black man to drive an expensive car into the rural South.Wilbert wanted to drive the Cadillac, but all the others he knew and even his close family tried to tell him that is was too dangerous. But Wilbert never agreed and did not listen to mother, his uncle and aunt, or his neighbours. However, mother wanted to go with father with the two girls. She had suddenly changed her mind, and so did father, as he disagreed to mother’s decision. Families know the best for us, and we should always ask and accept advice from them.

When we realize and notice something we do is wrong, we should stop immediately. If we stop doing somethig wrong, we have a chance to do something correct. Wilbert the ufather had known bringing the children to Mississipi on the Cadillac was going to be risky, and he said it to Dee the mother. Father had known driving the Cadillac to south was going to be extremely risky, dangerous and unsensible. But, he still opposed to mother saying that he wanted to go. And, he took the children with him. This shows that father actually did something very wrong, he did not fix his decision even if he knew what he was doing is wrong. Mother also knew that taking the children to Missispppi on the Cadillac was dangerous, but she still insisted and suggested they took the children with them on the trip. Of course, this is also an act of not quickly fixing the fact something is wrong after realsiing it. When we realise something is wrong, it is best to fix it immediately with no hesitation. If we do not dpoo anything without maing mistakes, it may not be a completed task. Mistakes are made, and if we notice one we must work hard to fix it, not just ignore the problem. We may make problems, and we may notice them, but we must solve the problem before it is too late to do so.

Racism should not be allowed in our society because it is harmful and depressing. Even though racism is bd, we shouldn’t overreact about it. Racism can effect people, but we should stay calm and calm down. They always said that black people should be banned from the society, but we can not do much about it. So we must stay calm and try to not think about it, and perhaps find a small, petite solution to the problem. When Wilbert over reacted when he got his Cadillac, it caused him to have the urge to got o Mississippi on the Cadillac, and ended up being busted by the police because of his colour. When Wilbert overreacted, it led to the thought of driving the car through the South, and no matter what his family and neighbours told him, he would not budge at all. He just kept his idea and never let anything convince him it was too dangerous. Even if he knew that it was dangerous indeed, he is stuck and trapped in his idea, which shows the importance not to overreact even when getting something we really want. Racism is very difficult to fix and also understand, but we must s,ways know how we can try to know I Overreacting can cause serious troubles for everyone in the world, any race and age.

The Gold Cadillac talks about a coloured man in a and discriminating world on a expensive car with his loving family. This man lives in a racist, unreasonable and also dangerous world, and he does some abd and unthoughtful decisions that lead him to danger. He did not listen to his family memebers or neighbours, he did not fastly fix the problem after realsisign there was a mistake and problem in his decision. And, he overreacted after getting something he wants and appreciates. These are all actions we should avoid, in order to live well and safe in this world. Father, the man that made all the bad decisions; had thought nothing would go wrong at all in just a short ride to Missippi. There was two things wrong aout his thought, one is Missippi is not short at all, it is a long way. And two, it is extremely dangerous to drive a brand new and envious car all the way to a country far away from our home. In which of this reason, there are dangers that may not cause physical harm, but perhaps mentally harm and emotionally harm to the person. This is because father has loved his car, we know this from all the statements he made in the story about his new car such as "Don't you like the Cadillac, Dee?" . But people opposed to his idea, which is the part where father does not listen to his family. The lines said: “But then my father said he was going to drive the car south into Mississippi to visit my grandparents and everybody stopped laughing.” At that point, Wilbert didn’t listen to his family members, overreacted for his new Cadillac, and also didn’t stop after noticing a problem. We should always seek advice from our family and close ones, and never react too far on things we know is wrong to ourselves and others.
