Story Review of The Blind Hunter

The story, The Blind Hunter, written by Kristina Rodanas, talks about a blind man named Chirobo who can hunt with his other senses. He was also a well respected man in his town. Once, a young hunter named Muteye wanted to come to the village to hunt and be known as a great hunter. Three times, Chirobo, a blind hunter, unlike Muteye, finds the animals by using his senses of hearing, smelling and feeling. When they went to catch the birds, Muteye switched his skinny bird for Chirobo’s larger bird. Chirobo knew, and taught Muteye a meaningful lesson without hurting his feelings.

People who have lost one of their senses still has the ability to see with their other senses. All people who have lost a sense just do things different from normal people, not that they do everything different from us. In the story, Chirobo is blind, but he can still hunt with his other senses. He senses the cheetah with his ears, smelled the warthogs, and feeled the rhinos, and Muteye didn’t see anything until Chirobo told him. Even though Chirobo cannot see, he can still be very familiar with surroundings and know things Muteye doesn’t. People who have lost their senses don't mean to know nothing.

People should not be looked down upon even if they are poor or have more needs than usual people, we’re all just human. When a rich person sees a beggar, they would think that they are dirty, nasty and disgusting creatures. They might not even treat the beggars as humans. Muteye looked down at Chirobo when he knew Chirobo was blind, and thought that a blind man could not hunt in any way. He thought Chirobo could not hunt just because he was blind, and looked down at him hugely. People look down at others who have less financial stability, money or have more needs.

Lying would not do good, and would only make things worse. A person that lies would always be found out some day, sooner or later. Lying would not last for a long time, and soon people would never believe us. In the story, Muteye lied to Chirobo, and he soon got told off by Chirobo and had to face his punishment: embarrassment. Lying is always a bad option to choose. Lying would also prove someone to be a bad person that is very untrustworthy. Lying is very bad for ourselves, and we can never support ourselves with lying.

In conclusion, the story, The Blind Hunter, talks about the tale of Chirobo and Muteye. We also learn many things from this meaningful story. Firstly, people who have lost a sense does not mean that they are on a lower level than us, and they do know some things, just in other ways. Secondly, we learn that we should not look down at anybody. Last but not least, we know that lying is very bad for us, the people that we lie to, and everybody else. I recommend this story, The Blind Hunter, as it tells us many things about life.
