story review of One Riddle and One Answer

Basic elements:

Character: Aziza, sultan, advisors, scholar, soldier, merchant, and farmer

Genre: fairy tale

Settings: Persia

Plot: Aziza loves numbers and her favorite game are riddles

The story of one riddle and one answer is written by Lauren Thompson and illustrated by Linda S. Wingerter.Talks about  Aziza needing to get married, but the sultan can’t find a man that suited his daughter. So Aziza got a solution, whoever could solve her riddle will be the one she will marry. First came a scholar and he said the answer was sun but it was wrong because the sun does not come first in counting. Next came a soldier and his answer was wrong because a sword does not come first in counting. Then came a merchant and he said the answer was money but it was also wrong because money does not make great things smaller.  Finally a farmer came and said the answer was sun and it was correct so Aziza married him.

So in the story one riddle one answer when people have benefits they will sometimes become selfish. For example, in the story the sultan asked for who Aziza should marry but all the advisors said that their son would be the best. Also, when people have benefits they won’t even care about the others and only think about themselves. Plus when people can get benefits from others they will try to be friends with the people that can give benefits to them. So basically if you can get benefits from someone you will want to be close to that person so that you can earn more benefits.

So in the story one riddle, one answer, the sultan was a negative person. He said that no one would be able to solve the riddle just because he could not solve it and found it difficult. He is also very impatient and gets mad easily because when he asked the advisors for whom he should let his daughter marry, the advisors said their son and he instantly got mad. But on the other hand Aziza was a very positive person because she said that there will be one person who will solve it. Aziza is also smart because she has her own plan. So when we face difficulties we should stay positive and patient.

When people learn new things or face difficulties they should step out of their comfort zone and learn new things. We should not only think about things that we learn but to learn new things to prograse.  We should accept new things so we can learn. If we don’t then we will be stuck in the same position and never learn. In the story the scholar, the soldier and the merchant answered wrong because they were only thinking about the things they use the most, learn the most or deal the most. So if you want to be better than you must accept new things and learn.

So basically in the story Aziza needed to get married so she made a riddle and whoever answers the riddle correctly can marry her. So the socolar came first and he said the sun but it was wrong because it did not come first. Then a soldier came and said sword but it was also wrong because a sword does not come first . After a merchant came and said money but was also wrong because money does not make great things smaller. Finally a farmer came and said the answer was one and it was correct so they got married. When people have benefits they become selfish sometimes. In the story, the sultan is a negative person. He also gets mad easily. Aziza is a positive person. She is also very smart and patient. So when we face difficulties we should stay strong and accept new knowledge.
