Story Review of Once Upon a Baby Brother

Basic Elements:

Characters: Lizzie, her mom, people in her mom’s work

Setting: Her mom’s office

Plot: Lizzie loves telling stories

Genre: fiction

This story is written by Sarah Sullivan, and  illustrated by Tricia Tusa. It talks about a girl named Lizzie who loved telling stories, but when her little brother came along, it ended. One day, Marvin went to visit Gramma, Lizzie was thrilled. When Lizzie was enjoying her no Marvin life, something was missing. MARVIN. When her teacher announced a comic book project, Lizzie thought, but her head was always empty. But when Marvin came back, she made a comic book, and succeeded.

When you love writing, you make good stories, and you are creative.  Also, when you love writing, it means that you enjoy it, and never give up on it. In the story, even if Lizzie has no idea for her character in the comic book assignment, she didn’t even give up, she tried to think more. I think that means that Lizzie loves writing because she shows it by not giving up even though the comic book project was really hard, and it looked like she was going to fail. If you love writing, you have to prove it by enjoying it.

You find inspiration from something that happens in your life, daily, or not. The inspiration I am talking about, is the ones in the books. You could find inspiration by reading other people’s books, but the most common one is about your feelings. In the story, Lizzie got mad at Marvin, so she wrote many stories, with Marvin as the bad character in it. I think this is why you get inspiration from your emotions, because the example in the book is proof! If we had lots of emotions every day, we could write better books.

Don’t judge a book by its cover, because even something may look useless, but in reality, it is the key to something. For example, a cherry pit, useless, and annoying, but this cherry pit is the key to growing a big cherry tree. In the story, Marvin made many messes, and was a threat to Lizzie’s life, he was actually a little useful. Even if Marvin acted like an annoying, useless, demonic little boy, he was in reality the key of Lizzie’s inspiration. Even if something looks useless, it may be the key to someone’s future.

I think you should read this story because it teaches us many lessons like when you love writing you have to…, and the inspiration in Lizzie’s books comes from, and don’t judge a book by its cover. I also recommend you to read this book because it is really funny. Anyways, thanks for reading this passage!
