The story of “officer Buckle and Gloria written by Peggy Rachmann is a story about Officer Buckle and his buddy Gloria. Officer Buckle wants to give safety tips to kids but no one is interested in. He finds if he has Gloria with him in the speech, Gloria is funny and everyone is interested in. When officer Buckle and Gloria team up, the safety speech becomes successful and help to reduce the accidents.

I learnt that we should always use teamwork. If you use teamwork, other people can look out for you and help you. In the story, Gloria helps officer Buckle to make his safety speech more interesting. When officer Buckle doesn’t have Gloria with him, his speech is boring and nobody listens. Teamwork makes things easier.

I also learnt that boring speech makes people sleepy. That won’t help anyone to learn. In the story, when officer Buckle does his safety speech by himself, everyone is bored and sleepy. They don’t listen and there are still a lot of accidents. We really should make our speech not boring so people can listen.

Last but not least, I learnt that we should observe carefully in our daily life. We can learn a lot from our surroundings. In the story, officer Buckle knows a lot of safety tips because he always checks if there is something unsafe. After his speech, he notices a lot of risks in Napavill school. If we observe carefully, we can also summarize what are the things we shouldn’t do. Therefore we should get safety tips by observing the world around us.

The story teaches us important lessons from life. For example, we should do teamwork and we should pay attention to our daily life. We can learn a lot and understand what we should do that way. When we learn something we also should try to teach by giving speeches. We should try to make the speeches interesting so people can listen to them.
