Story Review of Nutik the Wolf Pup

Setting: Eskimo Village

Characters: Amaroq, Julie and Nutik

Plot: Amaroq wouldn’t give Nutik away.

Genre: Fiction

This book is written by Craighead George, illustrated by Ted Rand, it talks about a boy called Amaroq and Nutik the wolf pup. One day, Julie gave a pup to Amaroq. Julie said not to fall in love with Nutik. Julie said to feed and tend Nutik and Julie took care of another pup called Uqaq. Julie said to Amaroq when the pups were fat and strong, they would be returned to the wolf pack. When Amaroq ran Nutik ran. Amaroq gave food to Nutk. One day, Amaroq heard the wolf pack calling to the pups to come home. Amaroq ran, Nutik ran too. Amaroq got to Julie’s house and Uquq was back to the wolf pack. Amaroq is unhappy. He didn't want to give Nutik back to the wolf pack. But he changed his mind to give Nutik back. At the end, Amaroq found Nutik back with him and Amaroq treated Nutik like a family.

Love can happen between humans, animals or plants. It only matters if you like it or not, no one will force you to love something. The book says Amaroq gives milk to Nutik and raw meat to eat. So if you like someone or something, you can take care of the people or things you like. Love is not among humans, love can go with anything you like.

Separation can be sad. But if you are brave enough you can make the decision more easily. In the story, Amaroq let Nutik go. Amaroq was sad when he made this decision, but he still let Nutik go. He had a strong heart. If we want to make an easy decision for the better, we will need to have a brave heart.

Relationships can be with anyone even if he, she or it is not in the same family. If we love someone, even if they are not a family member, we can treat them as family. In the story, Amaroq was not in Nutik’s family but he still treated Nutik like a family member. So the author says they were like brothers. Everyone can treat anyone like a family.

In conclusion, I learned three things in this story. First, I learned that love can go with anyone. Second, I learned that seperation can be very sad. Last but not least, you can build a relationship with someone outside of your family. I learned many things in this book. I recommend this book to you.
