Story Review of Not Norman

Characters: "I" the boy, Norman the fish

Setting: School

Plot: The boy begins to like Norman

Perspective: First person viewpoint

Genre: Fiction

The story Not Norman written by Kelly Bennett talks about a boy and his pet Norman. At first, the boy does not want to keep Norman the goldfish. He wants to trade it for a dog or a cat. But at school, when the boy talks about his goldfish, nobody is listening to him because they're busy chasing Emily's snake but Norman. He thanks for its listening. At the music lesson, the boy talks about Norman, so Maestor makes him stay for more practice. At night, there is something at the window, and the boy can not sleep. He feels scared but when the sees Norman, he no longer feels alone. At last, he is sure he likes Norman.

Fish can be good pets, too. Compared with dogs and cats, fish are quiet. They won't bother us. In the story, Norman the fish stays with the boy when he is alone, and makes him to be brave. Not only dogs and cats are good pets, fish also can be cool choices.

Attention is very important when someone is making his Show-and-Tell. When we talk about something, we need other's listening. In this story, classmates of the boy are busy chasing the snake and not listening to him. He maybe gets a bit angry.

Don't be afraid of difficulties, they may not be as scary as you think. The boy feels scared when he hears something at the window at night. He draws the curtains bravely, it turns out to be a broken tree branch. There is nothing to fear.

In conclusion, the story tells us three things. First, fish can be cool pets, too. Second, if someone is talking, please pay attention. Finally, be brave.
