The story Not Norman written by Kelly Bennett, talks about a boy who first doesn’t like Norman, he takes him to school and wants to trade him. But when he’s talking, no one except Norman is listening in Show-and Tell class. Norman also sings at music lessons with the boy. And Norman accompanies him when he’s scared. At last ,the boy likes Norman very much ,he won’t trade Norman anymore.
Don’t judge people from what they look like. Don’t know someone’s kind from what they seem to be. Norman can only swim around in the bowl. It’s not a good pet for him. The boy thinks Norman’s useless. After somethings, he thinks Norman is comforted for him, so he keeps him . Not only people ,you can’t judge a pet on the outside.
You can’t always have what you want, but cherish everything you have. People always know something is good for you after some time. The boy firstly doesn’t want Norman ,but at last he keeps him. He knows that he likes Norman after these things. Maybe things you have aren't the best ,but after sometime ,it ‘ll be the best things.
You have to be responsible for your choice. If you choose something you have to be responsible for it. The boy gets Norman for a pet, so he needs to take care of him. The boy is Norman’s master, so he needs to cherish and take care of Norman. If someone makes a choice, he has the responsibility of doing some things for this.
This is a story full of love and tolerance. We can see the growth in mind of the boy. The author tells us that: don’t judge people or animals from what they look , it’ll make misunderstandings. We’ll estimate people by their behavior. Cherish everything you have, it may be the best thing for you . If you don’t treasure it , you’ll lose it forever . Life is full of choices.
