Story Review of My Very Own Room

Characters: Mijita and her family. (Sometimes they have some friends.)

Setting: In their home.

Plot: Mijita wants a room of her own.

My Very Own Room is written by Amada Irma Perez. It mainly talks about a girl who thinks her room with her brothers is too crowded, and she wants a room of her own. She pleaded with her mother to make the storage closet to her room, and finally she agreed. Her mother moved all the things out, they painted the wall with some paint, measured and found a nice bed, and had a bedside table and lamp. The girl was very satisfied, she borrowed some books, and after all, that became her very own room.

Protecting privacy, mostly, is key to ensuring human dignity, safety and self-determination. It relates to an individual's ability to determine for themselves when, how, and for what purpose their personal information is handled by others. In the book, Mijita thinks sleeping with her brothers affects her privacy, so she wants to be on her own and do something nobody will notice. This is important for our own sake as it will motivate the work that you do. But our ability to explain the importance of privacy to others within our organization will also be invaluable. So, privacy is very important to all of us and we need to have it.

Having love and appreciation makes one feel happy and nice, and their feelings will change. The complexity of love has much to do with how people experience it differently and how it can change over time. In the book, Mijita wants a room, but her mom doesn’t agree, but her mom sees the determination and love, so she agrees. Love and affection can be essential for human development, connection, and reducing isolation in every stage of life. Therefore, love and appreciation makes us all happy and joyful.

Even though some problems are hard to solve, if we think, we can always find the answer.

Thinking often occurs in response to stimuli. We try to understand and explain things. We think to solve problems. In the book, Mijita pleaded with her mother to make the storage into her room, but she said there is now way this could be her room. So, they thought of a way and it worked. The purpose of thinking is to understand our world as best as possible. Our minds have evolved to think so that we can better adapt to our environment. So, when we meet problems, don’t be afraid to stop and think.

In conclusion, we learned three things from this book: Firstly, privacy lets us do the things we want to do but don’t want others to see; Secondly, love and appreciation makes us all feel happy and joyful; Thirdly, when you meet a problem, just think and you will find the answer. I think this book is good not because its drawing is good, but because it teaches us important lessons.
