Mr. Putter & Tabby pour the tea is a fiction book that Cynthia Rylant writes it. This book talks about an old man named Mr. Putter who got an old yellow cat named Tabby and enjoyed the company of each other. Mr. Putter wants a cat because he is alone. He goes to the pet store and there has a lot of kittens but there have no cats because cats aren’t cute or peppy. He wanted an older cat who was quiet and in need of companionship – just like him. Then, Mr. Putter goes to the animal shelter and finds an old yellow cat who is very like Mr.Putter in some ways. Mr.Putter takes the old cat home and named Tabby, So he can share the English muffin, good tea, and wonderful stories with Tabby.

Firstly, I learn that the important thing for the old man is keeping company. Money, big houses and luxury cars can’t be making the old man happy. In the story, Mr. Putter has a big house and a luxury car but he felt alone. He wants a cat to share his English muffins, good tea, and wonderful stories. So, I think the old man needs company. If you have time, please keep company your old parents or grandparents.

Secondly, I learn that adopting a pet from an animal shelter is a good idea. In the story, Mr. Putter wants a cat but the pet store only has kittens. Mr. Putter goes to the animal shelter to find a cat. So Mr. Putter adopts an old yellow cat from the shelter named Tabby and he gives Tabby a warm home. I think if I want a pet, I will go to the animal shelter to adopt a cat or dog. Not only kittens can be company but also cats can do it.

Last but not least, I learn that people can live in harmony with some animals. In the story, Mr. Putter and Tabby keep company. They eat English muffins in the mornings, drink good tea in the afternoons, and share the most wonderful stories in the evenings. They bask in summer, walk in fall, and listen to opera loudly in winter. They became best friends of each other. So if you want you can live in harmony with your pets.

This is a warm story full of love. The author tells us that the important thing for the old man is keeping company, adopting pets from the animal shelter may be a good idea, and people can live in harmony with some animals. I like this story and I hope you can read this book with your friends or your parents.
