The story MIGHTY JACKIE was written by Marissa Moss and illustrated by C.F. Payne. Talks about a young seventeen years old girl named Jackie Mitchelle who had joined the major league. At first, people started to mock her for being a girl because in their opinions girls don’t play baseball. One person was even cruel enough to say she would swing a mean lipstick instead of a bat. The truth was that Jackie was actually very talented. Ever since she was a child, she had always loved baseball even when kids made fun of her. Her dad and a star player had both seen how talented she was. Jackie was so in love with baseball that she even decided that she would play until it was too dark and too cold. That's how she ended up finally being able to play an actual game with some of the best players. As the game goes on Jackie hits the ball just right winning the game  proving to people that women can also play baseball.

The reason why Jackie was so excellent and talented at baseball was because she was hardworking and persevered. In the story of MIGHTY JACKIE, we learn that Jackie started playing baseball at a very young age. Even when the boys in the neighborhood would tease her very often saying that she throwed like a girl. Not only did they criticize her, but they were also very sexist, declaring that girls just couldn’t play baseball without any evidence. Still, Jackie didn’t listen to them and decided that she wouldn’t give up on her biggest dream just because of the persuasion of others. From that day on Jackie worked extra hard practicing baseball until it was too dark and too cold. She wanted revenge proving to the world that women can play baseball and that just because you're a boy doesn’t mean you are any better than girls. That is how Jackie became so talented in baseball.

Females were discouraged to play sports back then in the word because men thought they were weak and not worthy. For example, at the beginning of the story, everyone booed Jackie for playing baseball as she was a female and was considered as weak and unworthy to play any sports like men. This had made Jackie very angry. In order to prove men wrong, Jackie decided to turn her anger into determination. This spirit had made Jackie dedicated to baseball more than anyone else as she wanted to show the world what women are capable of. This story has not only shown Jackie's victory, but also influenced the world to show more equality in genders. If Jackie can prove that females also have talent in baseball then you can also prove to the world that women are independent and courageous.

Women should also have human rights. This is because back then the world was not as fair as it is today. The world back then was extremely sexiest towards women. For example, women were actually not allowed to have any jobs. It was a very unfair rule as they had to rely on men which often gave men the advantage to hurrase women by threatening them. Not only that but women were also not allowed to study. This meant that they had lost the privilege of knowledge. This was a huge problem as men would be smarter than women. Not because of their IQ but because of all the advantages they had compared to women. But if you think this is already terrible then prepare yourself for more as back in the day, Women couldn’t even vote for rights. This was a major problem because without the ability of voting, they had no rights because men could decide everything. This had led to a major disadvantage. Even though women have proven their independence to this cruel world there are still many areas where women were still treated badly.
