The Irish Potato Famine caused widespread starvation and immense suffering. The Irish Potato Famine lasted seven years and many people didn't have enough food because a terrible heat killed all the farmers’ potatoes, peoples on Irilands’ most important food. Lots of people died because they didn't have enough to eat or got sick. Some people had to leave Ireland and go to other countries to find food. It was an awful time in history.
Irish immigrants like Dad in the story wanted to leave their homeland and live better in their new country. They must work very hard to earn money and one day let their family go to America too. Although they live in a tiny, crowded room, they also work in the iron factory every day, the job is hard, dangerous and earning poor. They are all hardworking and positive, because they know when they work hard and save enough money, one day they will live better with their family together.
During the late 19th to early 20th century, lots of people from Europe and Asia came to America because they believed in something called the American Dream. As an immigrant from China, he faced numerous obstacles on his path to success, including cultural and language barriers. However, through relentless pursuit of his passion, he achieved recognition for his talent and dedication. Quan's achievement serves as an inspirational example of how hard work and determination can overcome adversity, embodying the essence of the American Dream.
In conclusion this story talks about Liam and his mother's hope to meet father. First of all, it allowed me to understand this history full of struggles. Secondly, the story of a mother and son reuniting with their father who was struggling in a foreign land and creating a new life together also inspired me to live seriously. Last but not least, I especially respect and admire those people who leave their hometowns and relatives with their dreams and come to foreign lands to struggle. No matter whether they have realized the American dream or not, they are all role models for me to learn from. I love this touching and inspirational story and recommend it to you.
