Story Review of James and the Giant Peach

The story James and the Giant Peach written by Roald Dahl talks about James and his insect friends. James’s mom and dad have been eaten by a rhinoceros in London when he was four. He has to live with two terrible aunts. One day when he is out, a man gives him a lot of green seeds and he spills them on the grass near an old tree. The next day, a giant peach grows up and he crawls into the peach. He sees some big insects inside and they start their journey. They meet a lot of difficulties and reach New York. They live very happy lives in New York together.

When you get into trouble, keep calm. You will find a solution to solve it only when you are coolheaded. In the story, when the peach is going to be eaten by the sharks, James has a genius solution to use the seagull to lift the peach up in the sky. The other insects are frightened. James is calm and clever so that he makes them out of trouble. Only if we calm our mind, then we can find the correct direction.

We have to make use of our strong points. Everyone has strengths and weak points. We need to know it. In the story, Centipede has sharp teeth to break strings but he is easy to get mad. Earthworm can dig tunnels but he always thinks negatively. James and his friends use their strong points to work together perfectly. We need to find and use every one’s strength to reach the goal.

We need to trust our friends. Trust can make us work together. In the story, Ladybug trusts James and lets him speak out his idea. Finally all the insects work together and the seagulls raise them up in the sky. The trust makes them do a very good job. Trust is essential in society and makes good cooperation.

In conclusion, the book lets me know when we get into trouble, don’t be nervous and keep calm. We need to know and use our strong points to resolve the problems. Trusting our friends or partners can make us work together. This book is a very fantastic story. I also learn a lot about insects and weather. I like this book very much. Hope you love it just like me.
