Story Review of Head, Body, Legs

Characters: head, arms, body, legs

Setting: Liberia

Plot: head, arms, body and legs find their advantages and disadvantages. They decide to work together.

Perspective: Third person view point

Genre: folk tale

The story of “head, body, legs' ' written by Won-Ldy Paye and Margaret H. Lippert is about the head, arms, body and legs working together to get cherries and mangoes. They all have advantages and disadvantages. When they find each other, they start to do more things. They feel it is perfect to work together.

I learnt that everyone has his own advantages and disadvantages. We all should try to understand ourselves’ advantages and disadvantages therefore we can try to work more effectively by using our advantages. In the story, the head is the only one who can see but he can’t reach things on the trees. Other parts like arms can’t see but they can reach things. So the head works with the other parts and gives the directions because he can see. Everyone is happy. We all should try to show our advantages and avoid disadvantages during work.

I also learnt that when we team up with others we can do difficult challenges. Sometimes the challenge may be too much for one person because no one can be good at everything. However if the team works together, they may do great things. In the story, the head, arms, body and legs work together. They go across the river and pick up the mango. If they don’t work together, they can never get that far. We all should try to work in a team when we face big challenges or need to do big projects. Teamwork can be powerful.

Last but not least, I learnt that communication is the key to teamwork. We should try to explain our own advantages and other team members’ advantages so everyone knows how to contribute to the work. In the story, the head invites everyone to work together. He explains that he can see so he can give directions. He also explains to everyone that other body parts can help with reaching high things or swimming. Everyone is happy to be part of the team and work together to get the mango. We all should try to communicate clearly in a team and understand that everyone has advantages.

In conclusion, “head, body, legs” taught us how to do teamwork. Everyone has advantages and disadvantages. We should try to show our advantages and try to use our advantages in teamwork. Good teamwork also needs clear communication and direction from the team leader. Good teamwork can lead us to great success and help us do things we can’t do by ourselves. In the end, good teamwork makes everyone happy.
