The Story Grace for President by Kelly Dipucchio talks about Grace Campbell, a girl who wants to be the school president. When Grace knows there’s no girl president of the United States, she feels unhappy. She wants to be the president of the school. She has a rival Thomas Cobb. Thomas just plays all day and Grace is trying to let people choose her. At last, the boy for Wyoming chooses Grace and she wins. She says when she grows up, she want to be the president of the United States.
Voting a president is a very difficult task in a school or in a nation. There are a lot of things to do when you want to be a president. In the story, first they make the slogans and posters to make more people know and vote him or her. Then the people will vote the candidate, the candidate who has 270 or more votes will win. The campaign is hard because there are many people who want to be the president but there’s only one can win. It is very fair too because all the people could vote for their choice. You have to work very hard if you want to be the president of the United States.
Girls are not always worse or more stupid than boys. All the presidents are men in United States and there is no girl president, but it doesn’t mean men are better than women. Women just do not have as many chances as men. In the story, Grace is a girl and she beats the boy Thomas and is elected as the president of the school because the boy for Wyoming chooses her. A boy chooses a girl because he thinks boys and girls are equal and Grace is more qualified for the president. Grace gets the voter’s trust by her action. The girl has to work harder if she wants to beat a boy to be the leader.
If you want to get something, you must make a great effort. You need to try your best to reach your goal. If you just sit around and don’t do anything, you will get nothing. In the story, Grace is working very hard and tries her best to make the people know her and like her. Thomas just countes the board with all the boys. He thinks he will get the all the boys’ vote. He doesn’t do anything and loses the election. Thoma’s thinking is wrong. Sometimes boys vote for girls because girls are also outstanding and try hard. You will get the reward for your hard work.
In conclusion, the story talks about how Grace is voted as the president. From the story we know a lot of the voting information. Voting is a very difficult task. Girls and boys are equal. Maybe sometimes girls act better than boys. We should judge a person by his or her actions. Also hard work can make you get what you want. Lazy people would fail at last.
