The story of “goose’s story’ written by Cari Best is about a goose with only one leg. One day a girl and her dog Henry find a goose with only one leg. The goose with one leg is lonely because she doesn’t walk or swim. The girl starts to encourage the goose. She starts to learn walking, swimming and flying, just like normal geese. When it’s fall, which is time for the geese to fly south. One afternoon the girl finds the goose with one leg is gone. It is spring again and the geese are coming back. The goose with one foot is back with her husband and babies. The girl is happy for her.
I learnt that everyone has weaknesses but we should learn how to survive with our weaknesses. Animals need to survive in nature with their physical weaknesses. People also need to survive in society with their own weaknesses. In the story, the goose has only one leg. If she doesn’t walk, swim or fly, she will not survive in winter. However she learnt to use only one leg to do everything and survived. Similarly, we all have our own weaknesses. Someone may not be good at socialization but we still have to find a way to work with people. Therefore it is important for us to learn how to concur our weaknesses.
I also learnt that nobody else can define you but only yourself can decide if you are strong or smart. Sometimes you may hear other people’s judgment about your capability but you should believe that only you know your capability. In the story, other geese don’t get close to the goose with only one leg because they think she is weak. However the goose with only one leg doesn’t give up. She learns walking, swimming and flying. She proves that she is as strong as others. If we all believe in ourselves and never give up, we all can achieve our goals. Therefore we should all try to work hard and make sure that we are strong.
Last but not least, I learnt that we should give enough time and patience to others. We should try to encourage others to be positive and learn important things. In the story, the goose with only one leg can’t walk at the beginning. The girl always goes there to talk to her and ask her to be strong. One day, the girl finds out that the goose learns how to hob, walk and even fly. Even though it takes a long time, the goose still learns how to survive. Therefore we all should understand that learning things takes time and patience. We all should keep being positive and encourage ourselves and others.
In concussion, the story talks about how a goose with only one leg learns how to survive in the wild. We learnt that everyone has to learn how to survive on our weaknesses. We also learnt that we can only be defined by ourselves. We just need to have enough patience and time to work things out. In the story, I also learnt some good writing skills. We should always try to give detailed descriptions. We should describe things indirectly. Those will help the readers to imagine things and make the descriptions more interesting. Long sentences are also more beautiful. We also should try to compare things and give contracts because the comparison helps the readers to understand better.
