Story Review of First Day Jitters

Characters: Mr.Hartwell, Sarah

Setting: At Sarah’s home

Plot: Sarah doesn’t want to go to school.

Genre: Humorous Fiction

First Day Jitters was written by Julie Danneberg and illustrated by Judy Love. It tells the story of a girl named Sarah who didn’t want to go to the new school and start over again. But her Dad had already told her to go to school, so she had breakfast and hopped into the car. As the principal leads her to the classroom……Surprise! Sarah is actually the teacher, not a student.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. Things are not always the same as they look. In the story's beginning and middle parts, all the readers think Sarah is a student who doesn't want to go to the new school, but the surprise ending is that Sarah is a teacher who doesn't want to start over in the new school. A surprise ending is a kind of writing skill, it can make readers remember the story clearly and make it more funny. If you didn't read the whole book, don't say it is good or bad. If you read the entire book, good or bad only is your personalized viewpoint.

Most people dislike going to the new school. Because they worry that there will be Bullies, unfamiliar aspects, and many different things. If you can't get into a group quickly, maybe you dislike the new school. In the story, Sarah hates the new school because she doesn't know anybody and Sarah thinks that making friends is a difficult thing. Even though Sarah is an adult, she still is afraid of the new school. For these reasons, most people dislike to start over a new school.

Some people like to try new things, but others dislike to try new things. Trying new things can help us overcome fear and expand our limits. After we try new things, we can grow up again. But trying new things means we need to accept the risk of failure. In the story, Sarah doesn't want to the new school because making new friends is difficult for her. So trying a new school for Sarah is a bad thing. But trying new things is a good thing for most people like scientists. Creativity is to keep on trying new things. So, trying new things is good or bad depending on our goals.

In conclusion, this story is humorous. It brings laughter and valuable lessons. For instance, it teaches us not to judge a book by its cover, shows how adults can worry like children about a new school, and includes a surprising ending to add to the story's humor. I hope you can read it with your family or friends. you can learn a lot of things from this book.
