Story Review of Farfallina and Marcel

The story of << Farfallina and Marcel>> written by Holly Keller talks about a caterpillar named Farfallina and a goose named Marcel’s friendship. They meet each other next to the pound and become friends by playing the game together everyday. One day Farfallina isn't feeling well, he climbs up a tree and takes a rest for a while. Marcel waits for her from night to morning, until weeks later,Farfallina comes back : she turns into a butterfly and Marcel turns into a bug goose. Even Though they do not look the same as old times, they are still the same as inside. They still play together and are best friends.

Sometimes in the game we will purposely lose the game. That does not mean we are not good at the game but we are good spots, we want to give teammates who are not as good not as us a chance to play the game equally and have fun too. In addition, when Farfallina and Marcel play hide and seek, they notice what others can't do during the games, like Farfallina she hides a fern close to the pound, is not because she cant climb but she knows Marcel the goose cant climb. If Farfallina climb on the tree, she will win the game all the time but Marcel may never play with her. Because he doesn't have the same opportunity to enjoy the game as Farfallina. does the same too, he hides behind a tree because Farfallina moves very slowly. Both of them are good spots, they give equal opportunity to each other more than winning the games. Although it seems like both of them are not winning the game, they are winning the game by giving equal opportunity to each other.

Most importantly I learn from this story about friendship. Friendship between Farfallina and Marcel shows they take care of each other and promise. When Farfallina says she is uncomfortable, Marcel worries about her and comforts her by saying: I’ll wait for you. He watches Farfallina make her way up to the tree and waits for her form night comes and the morning. Even though he feels terribly lonely but still keeps his promise: I’ll wait for you. He doesn't need to do that, but as a good friend he worries uncomfort Farfallina and cares about their friendship promise: I’ll wait for you. Because of these, he tolerates lonely and long waits. Farfallina and Marcel's friendship touch me, because they care about each other and they can keep the promise no matter how long it takes.

The last thing I learn from this story is writing skills. Writer uses long, indirect sentences to describe time changes. For instance, she uses “Night comes and then morning” instead of “second day” and “ The afternoons grew longer and warmer” instead of “it is summer times”. The reason the author uses long sentences is because she wants readers to find out by themselves rather than telling directly and also long sentences are more beautiful to describe simple things. When we write a paragraph we should always remember long sentences are better than short sentences, it is very important.

To sum it all up, I really like this book << Farfallina and Marcel>>, because it teach me about why we lose the game purposely , what real friendship shows and how we can improve our writing skill by using long sentences. I will recommend my friends to read this book also I will memory the way author describe time and season by indirectly way.
