The story Farfallina and Marcel by Holly Keller talks about the friendship between a gosling and a caterpillar. They are good friends and they play games together every day. They got split when Farfallina had to make a cocoon. Marcel waited for her day and night, but Farfallina disappeared. Later when they met again, they became an adult swan and a beautiful butterfly. Their friendship continued and they decided to fly to the south together.
It’s okay to lose a game to our friend sometime. Most people like to win, but some know that it's okay to lose. Even if we want to win, we still need to take turns to win. Also, we make our friends feel happy if they win. In the story, Farfallina and Marcel play hide and seek, they both hide in a place where it is easy to reach. They want the other to win and to be happy, so they enjoy playing with each other. So, losing to our friend in a game is not that bad, sometimes it is a good thing.
Good friends help each other and care for each other. They also play with each other. They do it because they like each other. To be good friends, you must both like each other. In the story, Farfallina and Marcel worried about each other when they didn’t see each other. This means they were caring for each other and liked each other.
There are two writing skills in the story “Farfallina and Marcel”. The first one is indirect expression. This is good because it lets you make inferences. In the story, the sentence “the afternoons got hotter and warmer” is a very indirect sentence because it lets you guess the season. The second one is repetition, this is used to emphasize. There is the sentence “night came and then morning”. The sentence was used twice in the story, it shows that Farfallina and Marcel both have the same feeling when they are waiting for each other. It proves that they are good friends.
The story of Farfallina and Marcel talks about the friendship between them. It all started when Farfallina ate Marcel’s leaf and then they became good friends. Even though they separate for a long time, their friendship continues when they meet again. We learn that losing to our friend in a game is okay, good friends like each other and care about each other.
