Story Review of El Enano

The story El Enano by Charles. J.Finger is a classical folktale about a mischievous monster named El Enano. El Enano terrorizes the villagers by capturing them then putting a spell so they can’t call for help. One day, El Enano turns himself into the image of a sleeping baby and a kind old woman takes him in, not knowing it's him. The old woman had no children of herself so she cared for El Enano kindly. Finally, El Enano wakes up and scares the old woman while the villagers want him to leave, he doesn’t. El Enano says that if they give him food, he will leave. Once the villagers give him some food, El Enano uses some niche way to say that he doesn’t have to leave. The villagers feed him every day so he doesn’t do any mischief. Finally, a smart fox convinces the villagers to use his trick to trick El Enano. It works and El Enano dies. This book teaches us about greediness, mercy, and tricks.

Greed can lead to profoundly negative consequences if it goes too far. It has the power to corrupt people and fog the truth from their mind. In the story El Enano, the monster is hungry but mischievous and the woman takes him in. The woman feeds him lots and lots of food where he grows and grows so he wants more where he doesn’t realize that he is lucky for all that food unlike the other kids who went hungry that night. He doesn’t even leave when he is asked by the villagers when they give him lots of food and valuable animals. After being greedy about the food the villagers have no choice but to listen to the fox and trick him into thinking the potatoes are very good so he eats them. He learns his lesson finally when he dies because of his greediness and want for more food. Greed can cause problems if it gets out of control. If someone doesn't realize their greed and try to stop it, it can lead to bad things happening.

Using tricks strategically can provide a significant advantage. There is a wide variety of tricks that can be employed for diverse purposes. In the story, El Enano is very hungry and mischievous when he is found outside. He uses his tricks to be like a baby and tricks the woman into giving him many foods and others. This had a negative impact on the village because lots of children went hungry while he ate like a king. The fox's tricks on the other hand are for the benefit of the village and to get rid of El Enano. The villagers don't trust him at first but they find no other way so they do what he says. They talk in loud voices so El Enano can hear them and they talk about how good the potatoes are so they will hide it from El Enano and put it in the fire. El Enano eats the potatoes and explodes. Tricks can be good or bad but whichever of the two, they usually tend to be effective at accomplishing their goals.

Showing mercy to one's enemies, even when holding a strong advantage, is a compassionate act. However, adversaries may sometimes use the mercy extended to them for their own good.In the story, the woman takes El Enano in, showing mercy because she herself has no children and El Enano was acting like a baby. The kind old woman showed mercy to El Enano even though she didn’t have to, she could have just left him but she didn’t. El Enano on the other hand, was fed lots and lots of food as was lucky to not be hungry but when he realized the old woman was there, he used it to his advantage and demanded more and more food which eventually took him over and made him explode at the end. This is an example of when the “opponent”, El Enano, used the woman's kindness against her and tried to take all the food using tricks but he failed. Showing kindness is good, but you have to be careful,as some people might try to take advantage of your compassion.

The story EL Enano by Charles. J.Finger is a story that has a lesson or moral at the end. This story teaches us about mercy, tricks, and greediness. Greediness is when a person wants more than he or she needs and therefore can make them do bad things to get what they want. Tricks on the other hand are used by both the good and the evil, good people use it to help others while others use it to get what they want in a bad way. Good tricks can help stop evil people like the fox who used the trick with the potato to make El Enano eat it and then explode because of how hot it was. Finally, mercy is the showing of compassion when one person has the upper hand against the other and doesn't do anything evil, just helps them instead. This story was really inspirational and taught me many things like you don't have to be strong to stop bullies.
