Story Review of Dear Juno

Characters: Juno, Juno's grandmother, and Juno's parents.

Setting: at night, in the USA

Plot: Juno receives a letter from his grandmother who lives in Korea.

Genre: Realistic Fiction(It could happen in reality.)

The story Dear Juno is written by Soyung Pak, and illustrated by Susan Kathleen Hartung. It talks about a boy named Juno, a boy who lives in America, who receives a letter from his grandmother who lives far away in Korea, but there is a question, his grandma writes the letter in Korean, but Juno is an American, he can’t read this letter. So they use pictures and things to communicate to show each other how much they love each other.

Family love is as important to people as fish needs water. Humans are group animals, a human can have no friends, no classmates, and no pets, but humans cannot don’t have any family love. In the story, Juno loves his grandmother, and his grandmother loves him, so they use all kinds of ways to show each other their family love. Time, zone, and language don't affect Juno and his grandma to express their family love. So everyone should recognize that family love is our important support in the world.

Everyone needs to communicate to express their emotions, like family love, no matter where you are, near or far away from each other.  If you don’t, you’ll find out that you feel lonely. In the story, Juno and his grandma feel happy, because Juno communicates with his grandma by the letter. Whether the country is the same or not, whether the language is the same or not, and whether Juno can write or not. Drawing or pictures can express their love for each other. So even in a family, communication is very important.

We should learn to solve some questions ourselves, instead of relying on our parents. My mom always said no one could be with me forever and I needed to depend on myself. In the story, Juno reads the letter by himself, because his parents are washing dishes, so they have no time to read the letter. But Juno reads the letter and gets the grandma’s love. Everyone should solve the questions themselves, even if the solution is not perfect.

In conclusion, this is a warm and touching book. The book tells us family love is as important to people as fish needs water. Everyone needs to communicate to express their emotions, like family love, no matter where you are, near or far away from each other. We should learn to solve some questions ourselves, instead of relying on our parents.Except for this, I also learn many writing skills in this book. I recommend you to read this book. You will love it.
