Story Review of David’s New Friends

The story of David's new friends was written by Pat Mora. It was the day before the first day of school. David was a bit nervous. In school, David met a good teacher who became his friend. When math class ended, Mr Roy, the teacher spilled some juice on his slippers, that is when he recognized that he wore slippers to school! Also David hated lizards but in class the lizard Slim became his friend too. At first, Slim got away but David caught him, and put Slim into the tank. David was very thrilled.

David made two friends in school. Mr Roy is David’s teacher, when Mr Roy couldn’t find the chalk, David helped him. When Mr Roy couldn’t find the glasses, David pointed to the glasses for him. At last, when the juice spilled, Mr Roy found out he wore slippers to school. David hated lizards, when Mr Roy showed everyone about the lizard Slim, lizard Slim ran so David bravely caught him. When the lizard was in the tank, it winked at David. That’s the moment David and Slim became friends. We need to have friends, friends can help us very often.

Mr Roy was David’s teacher who was caring about the class, he tried to make the class relax because the students were nervous. First, he forgot where the chalk, glasses were. Last, the juice fell on his shoes so he found out he wore slippers to school. I think Mr Roy wants us to feel the joy of learning that’s why he acts very funny. I like Mr Roy because many kids like to learn by playing instead of learning with no fun.

Never judge a book by its cover. Although Slim was a lizard, he was still David’s friend. First, David hated lizards. When he came and saw Slim, he was disgusted. In class, the teacher Mr Roy said Slim was his friend but Slim ran away. At last, Slim was caught by David so Slim became David’s new friend. David didn’t hate lizards anymore. I like Slim, he is a bit cute. Slim might seem creepy on the outside, but when we touch him, he may seem very nice. So, we can’t just look at the appearance of something, maybe inside is better.

This story is great. It tells us about who David’s friends are, and how he met them. Mr Roy and Slim are all David’s friends. Mr Roy is a bit funny, he might want the class to laugh. Slim is a lizard. First, David hates lizards but he doesn’t hate it when Slim runs away and David catches him. I think this book is creative.
