The story David’s New Friend written by Pat Mora talks about a boy named David who is going to school, and this is the first day so he doesn’t like it. But he has a great teacher named Mr. Roy. David helps Mr. Roy a lot of things and he even helps him grab a lizard named Slim. At last David likes school.

Interesting teachers can make students like school. Because we all like interesting and we will listen to them. In the story, Mr. Roy is funny and all the children like him. Then children are attracted by him so they are willing to listen to him.

We should make new friends in school. Because then we can play together and enjoy each others’ company. In the story, David meets Mr. Roy who becomes a friend of him. When Slim the lizard slips out of Mr. Roy’s hand, and David helps Mr. Roy to get Slim which leaves a great memory. Making friends will fill us with the happiness of friendship.

Everything should has a good start. Because if something doesn’t has a good start, then it won’t last for a long time. In the story, David first doesn’t like the first day school. But since he has a good start due to his new friends -- Mr. Roy and Slim the lizard, and he likes the first day school later. We should relax and try our best to earn a good start.

If I had a day like this, I would like the first day school. Because I could play with my old friends and have new friends. My teacher will be happy on this day because my teacher is students’ favorite and she miss us. We will have a wonderful School opening day and I will have a great start!
