Story Review of Cook-a-Doodle-Doo

Character: Goose, Dog, Cat, Rooster, pig, iguana, and Turtle

Setting: farm

Plot: Rooster is going to make a strawberry shortcake. 

Genre: Humorous fiction

    This story Cook-a-Doodle-Doo is written by Tanet Sterens and Cummel and it talks about animals trying to make a cake. One day, Rooster wants to make a strawberry shortcake. She asks Goose, Dog, and Cat but Dog regrets it. So Iguana, Pig, and Turtle come and help. When the cake is finished, Iguana slips the cake and the cake falls on the floor. Pig eats it. Iguana blames pig and pig blames Iguana for being careless. Rooster suggests making another cake. Everyone agrees and now they have a new cake to enjoy. 

    Have you ever heard of an old saying “many brains are better than one brain”? It means teamwork is better than doing the work on one’s own. In the story, the Rooster, Goose, Pig, Turtle, and Pig are making the cake together. That proves they can work together and they can do it faster. After the first cake’s fall, they work together very quickly and a delicious cake is made in a short time. It is better to work together to make better things. 

    We make mistakes all the time but that’s fine. Because we can always learn from our mistakes. In the story, Iguana makes a mistake by dropping the cake on the floor. The Pig eats it right away on the floor. Rooster suggests making another cake. Everyone agrees and this time they are being extra careful with the cake. Making mistakes is fine as long as we don’t make them again.

    Persistence will make a person strong because it can make someone try again and again till it is perfect. People who never give up will succeed in the end. In the story, Rooster and the other animals do not give up making a perfect cake, they try for a second time. In the end, they do it well and everyone can enjoy the perfect cake. Persistence is a good feature for a person and without it, we will not be successful in life. 

    The book Cook-a-Doodle-Doo is a very fun book to read. And it talks about three themes. First, it talks about teamwork being essential for doing good work. Second, making mistakes is not a bad thing, we can learn from mistakes. Last but not least, we need to have persistence to be successful in life. I learned three things in this book, I hope you like it.
