Story Review of Cook-a-Doodle-Doo

Characters: Rooster, iguana, turtle, pig

Setting: kitchen

Plot: The rooster needs help to make a cake

Genre: Humorous fiction

Perspective: Third person viewpoint

The story “Cook-a-Doodle-Doo” is a humorous fiction written by Janet Stevens is about a rooster who wants to bake a strawberry shortcake and needs help. The cat, the dog, and the goose say that he does not cook and has no skill. But, an iguana, a turtle, and a pig offer to help. The turtle reads the recipe, the iguana gets the ingredients, and the pig tastes. Even though they work hard, they still make mistakes. And when they were done, the pig ate the cake. They then argued. But the rooster told them that they learn from mistakes (so the next will be better). They then made a second cake together.

After a long time of practicing, our work will become natural, skillful, swift, and steady. When something gets really hard to manage, we practice a lot of times. And we would mostly achieve our goal. Practice is very important for us in learning and working. Like everyone says: Practice makes perfect. In the story, the rooster, iguana, turtle, and pig did not do a very good job at cooking the first strawberry shortcake. They baked another strawberry shortcake and it was not as bad as the last one. If they keep practicing, they will eventually have the perfect cake as they wished. We practice to get skilled and talented at something we really want to have and make. Everyone should practice to reach our goals.

Take chances, make mistakes. That's how you grow. Sometimes we make mistakes, and that is ok. We don’t need to be ashamed about it. We can change and avoid those mistakes. That way, we will grow and be successful. In the story, the iguana made a lot of mistakes in baking. Even though the first try was not so good, he can avoid the mistakes he made in the last strawberry shortcake. Even though everyone makes mistakes and it is ok, it does not mean you can purposely make mistakes. It also does not mean you could make mistakes and not care about it. Everyone makes mistakes, you, me, our whole family and friends! We did correct some of our faults. So, we can grow from our errors when doing something.

If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself. Being an effective collaborator will increase your sociality in communities. When people struggle with problems, others could help them. Working together is efficient and helpful for us who still have a far path to our goals. In the story, the rooster, iguana, turtle, and pig worked together as a team to make a shortcake. Even though they did not succeed perfectly the first time, they still have the shortcake they wished for the second time. Working independently can increase workload and stress. There might be as many tasks to complete as when you were working in a team, but working alone means you'll be responsible for them all. So, people should collaborate more together.

The story told us three things: Practice makes perfect, Learn from mistakes, and Collaboration/Teamwork/Cooperation. In the story, The rooster wants help from his friends. The iguana, the turtle, and the pig offered help. Even though they made a lot of careless mistakes, they learned how to bake a perfect strawberry shortcake! They avoided the mistakes after and made tons and tons of cakes! They worked together very well.
