The Big Red Lollipop is written by Rukhsana Khan. It mainly talks about a girl named Rubina who gets invited to a birthday party, but has to take her little sister Sana with her. She needs to take her, or else she can’t go. So, Rubina took Sana to the party. After the party, they got some candies and a big red lollipop. Sana ate it on the way home, and Rubina saved it for tomorrow. But when she got up, Sana ate the whole thing and only left a triangle for her. Rubina was very angry, and didn’t say anything to Sana for a long time. A few days later, Sana was invited to a birthday party, but she had to take Maryam. But Rubina talked to Ami to let Sana go on her own, so Sana gave a green lollipop to Rubina as a thank you.

We need to comprehend our problems and correct them, or pay them back to make up for our problems. We need to look at our problems and pay it back to make sure we won’t make this problem again. Otherwise, if we don’t comprehend our problems, we will make this mistake over and over again, and the problem will grow bigger and bigger. In the book, Sana made a mistake by eating Rubina’s lollipop, but she paid back Rubina a big green lollipop. That means she knew what her mistake was and corrected it. We should comprehend our problems because the more we understand the problem, the more likely we understand the root cause and can create countermeasures so the problem won't recur. So, we need to fully understand our problems and correct them to make sure they won’t recur.

We need to “put our feet in other’s shoes”, in order to examine a situation from the other side. It means we need to make an effort to imagine how you would feel or act if you were in the same situation as a particular person. We can see and feel the situation from their side. In the book, Rubina was begging to not let Sana go to the party, and now Sana is begging and crying to not let Maryam go to the party. Now Sana has the same situation as Rubina had before. We need to view some things from others' views, and we need to care about how others feel. Then, we can view the problem correctly. So, we should not only think about how we treat the problem, but also think about how others will treat it.

We need to forgive others and have a kind heart even when they do something bad to us. Forgiveness is important because it’s not just about forgiving others who did something bad to you, but also helps you free yourself from the control of the person who harmed you. It might also lead you to bad feelings. In the book, Rubina forgave Sana for eating her lollipop, even though she is forbidden to do so. She has a kind heart, and would never get mad or angry with her sister, even though sometimes she is a bit annoying. But, when others do something super bad to you, you should not forgive him or her, because they have the right to be punished. If it’s only a small problem, then you just solve it by yourself. So, when we have a problem, just first solve it by yourself, and if you cannot, tell the teacher.

In conclusion, this book tells us three things: Comprehend our problems, “put our feet in their shoes”and fairness. These are all very important themes, because they have special meanings. We need to comprehend our problems in order to not recur again; we need to “put our feet in their shoes”because we can feel what others think in their view, and we need to forgive others when they make a small mistake. I recommend this book to you because it’s so amazing and interesting.
