National Symbols

Symbols are something that is a reminder of something else.Symbols can bring us together. The American bald eagle is one of the symbols of the US. Bald eagles were very independent and free. Choosing it reminds people the US values freedom and courage to be independent. The flag is also a symbol of America. It had 50 stars to symbol 50 states, and the 13 stripes symbolized 13 original colonies. The Statue of Liberty is also a symbol of America. It was a gift from France. It also represents The friendship between two countries and the shared version of liberty, which is freedom.

Other countries also have various symbols. The Maple leaves had a special meaning in Canadians heart, they put it on their national flag. Maple trees are everywhere in Canada's territory which are deeply loved by Canadians. Canadians even put maple leafs in the coat of arms of Canada. The Mexico coat of arms is a symbol of Mexico that shows an eagle devouring a snake perched on a prickly pear cactus. England, Scotland and Wales are three countries component of the UK, they have their own national symbols. The Tudor rose was the national symbol of England. The Tudor rose is not a real thing which represents the England monarchy. The Scottish thistle, and the unicorn are the national symbol of Scotland. The Scottish thistle means to be brave, while the unicorn was a symbol of innocence and purity. The Welsh leek and Welsh dragon are the symbols of Wales.

The Mexico coat of arms is my favorite symbol from the three countries. Because it presents Mexico’s geography environment very well, it has deserts, cactus, snakes and gold eagles. The prickly pear cactus is the national plant of Mexico, and the gold eagles were the national bird of Mexico. Mexico and its neighbor USA both had Eagles for their national bird. I guess, maybe, Mexico also chose eagles as the national bird was influenced by the USA. I also think the prickly pear cactus is very tough in the desert, which shows the Mexicans’ willingness to become tough.

I think pandas are the best symbol of China. There are some reasons to choose pandas as our national treasure. First, Pandas can’t be seen anywhere else except China. Although Panda is one kind of bear, it's very unique. They eat bamboo only from China and don't need hibernation in winter. Many years ago, they were trained to play tricks in the circus. The Chinese people like them so much, so they decided to stop playing tricks anymore. The cute pandas impress everyone so strongly, when people talk about pandas, they instantly think of China. In my opinion it’s the most suitable symbol of China.

In conclusion, many countries have different symbols. They choose the most present thing to be their symbol. The symbol not only represents the features of a country and people’s willingness, it also represents the nation’s characteristics. The meaning of national symbols is the biggest character difference between nations. A good symbol can make us remember the country’s character instantly.
