A symbol is something used to represent something else which can take the form of a mark or image that stands for an idea or concept. A national symbol is used to show something unique about a country and represent the country. America has a lot of symbols to show something special about itself and among them are the bald eagle, the statue of liberty, the star spangled banner song, the American flag, and the liberty bell. These symbols can be used to express America's culture, history and values.
All countries have several symbols to show their uniqueness and the ones that I find most exciting and perplexing are Scotland, Wales, and Turkey. Scotland's symbols are the unicorn and the majestic golden eagle. Wales symbols are the welsh dragon and the red kite. Turkey's national symbols are the turkish angora, the gray wolf and the redwing. These animals are all very cool since most of them appear in fantasy which you would rarely ever see.
There are many national symbols that I like, but the one that I like the most from above is the Turkish angora. The Turkish angora is an animal you wouldn’t always see, but it’s real. I also choose this symbol because it’s a cat and I like cats. The Turkish angora is also a symbol for good luck and fortune to the Turkish people; this might make it so that I am luckier. This cat also has white hair, so I think that it is very cute. On top of all this, the cat is rare so it is more unique than some other cats. They also like to cuddle with people and are intelligent so I can teach it tricks and make it a very nice housepet.
My country, the United States of America, also has many symbols to show its beliefs, values, and traditions, but I think the one that best represents our country is the Statue of liberty. The Statue of Liberty came to America on June 17, 1885 which represents freedom, friendship and the welcoming of immigrants. The Statue of Liberty was given to America from France because France wanted to show their alliance during the American revolution. It represents the liberty of America and encourages the French to follow the same ideas. It also represents the welcomeness of immigrants because the Statue of Liberty's left foot is shown in a moving position and her torch not only shows freedom but it also demonstrates that people are welcome too. So the Statue of Liberty is a statue that best represents America because it is not only an American icon it also represents America's history and spirit. National symbols are important in order to show something special about a country or to usually show a country's history. One common national symbol is a country's flag. The flag usually has a design to the originality and unity of this country. Each country has different symbols because they all have a different meaning from each other. These symbols also help to join the people of the country together by reminding them of their beliefs and traditions. Knowing these national symbols will help people to respect and honor their own countries, meanwhile they will learn and understand other countries more.
