National Symbols

Symbol is often a sign, shape or object that is used to represent something else. We could immediately associate a symbol with a group of people, a belief, a culture or other important things. For example, a dove carrying an olive branch is a well-known symbol of peace. Symbols help us communicate beyond literal meaning. National symbols represent the country and the pride that people share. The American National symbol is the bald eagle, which means liberty and freedom.

Other nations have their own signature symbols as well. For instance, whenever you think of Canada, the first thing that comes to your mind is the red maple leaf. Not only are they important symbolically, they are also ecologically and economically significant in Canada. Mexico, on the other hand, has a symbol of a golden eagle with a snake in its beak on a cactus on the Code of Arms and the Mexican national flag. It has been an important symbol of Mexican culture and politics. In Japan, Mount Fuji is a famous landmark, and therefore it is a well known national symbol recognized by many people. Similar to maple leaf, sakura also holds a prominent position in Japanese culture and is considered as a Japanese national symbol.

In my opinion, the Mexican symbol is my personal favorite. It is because this symbol is not only very cool, but also has rich religious meanings. It is not based on real objects, but rather created by God according to myth. The Mexicans believed that they were nomads at the beginning. One day, God instructed them to find a place with a golden eagle eating a snake on a cactus and build their own capital city. After months of searching, they finally found the place the God told them about, which is now Mexico City. The golden eagle later became the national bird of Mexico, and the symbol of the golden eagle eating a snake has been prayed to and worshiped by Mexican people for thousands of years. Therefore, it has great significance in many different ways and is my favorite national symbol.

I believe the symbol that best represents China is the Great Wall. Everyone who visits the Great Wall would be amazed by the wisdom and the hard work of the ancient Chinese people.

Centuries ago, it was first built in the Qin Dynasty to prevent the Mongolian army on horses from conquering China. It was built and rebuilt by many dynasties, generations, and millions of labor, which is well recognized as one of the world's eight great wonders from ancient times. I think the Great Well is truly the best symbol of China that has geographical, cultural, and spiritual importance for Chinese people.

In conclusion, the national symbol is the best image to represent the country and its people. Every country owns its national symbols. Among many of them, my favorite is the Mexican one with the gold eagle eating a serpent on a cactus. In addition, I believe the best national symbol for my country is the Great Wall.
