My favorite painting is Starry night drawn by Vincent Van Gogh. He only sold one piece of his picture during his lifetime. But after his death, Van Gogh became the most famous and valuable artist in the world.
I like this painting because it gives me a very strange and mixed feeling when I see it for the first time. When I look at the upper part of the painting, the moon and stars are all spiraled and rotated. As if I can see how the artist struggled when he put a lot of thick paint. But when I look at the lower part of the drawing, the church and village in a valley make me feel peaceful. As if the artist was standing on a high place and looking down at the world, the wind was running in the field and dancing among the leaves.
The main view of this painting are moon and stars in the sky at night. Moon is so bright and the stars are glittering. They enlighten the sky and it is not so dark of the night. The colors change when the stars and moon are rotating.
I also can feel that Van Gogh put very strong emotions on some objects of this drawing. For example, a tree is in the painting, it looks like a frame, a dark frame, as if his heart was boiling , too. It’s said that Van Gogh was in a mental hospital when he created this painting. I can feel his sadness and eagerness. He wanted to set himself free from the hospital.
Van Gogh is a genius, a crazy artist. He was very poor and even mad during his lifetime. But now, his works are priceless and valuable. Starry Night is a beautiful and lonely painting. Do you like it ?
