My Favorite Art - The Girl With a Pearl Earring

The Girl With A Pearl Earring is a painting done by Dutch Artist Johannes Veneer. It depicts an imaginary young woman in exotic dress and a very large pearl earring. Historians believe Vermeer painted the small piece which is 17.52 × 15.35 inches (44.5 × 39 cm) around 1665. . The soft modeling of the subject’s face reveals his mastery of using light rather than line to create form, while the reflection on her lips and on the earring show his concern for representing the effect of light on different surfaces.

The painting, Girl With the Pearl Earring, had been moved to many places and gone all around the world. First, the Girl With Pearl earring was placed in the Netherlands. As the Mauritshuis building underwent renovation in 2012, Girl with the Pearl Earring traveled to Japan, Italy, and the United States. It drew crowds in each location, but not a long time. When Girl returned to the Netherlands in 2014, the Mauritshuis announced it would no longer lend out the painting, assuring visitors that the museum attraction would always be its home.

The Girl With A Pearl Earring shows mystery and makes us wonder what has happened to the girl, or what another person in the room is saying. The Girl looks as if about to answer some question that someone asked, and not really happy about what they were talking about. The girl doesn’t look happy, but the pearl earring means about finding love, and light in darkness. We can see that the girl’s eyes shine through the painting, and see something that she needs, or wants. It tells about finding a pathway out in a lost place.

There was a story about how the painting seemed to get weathered with the girl's lips, but looked nasty when the color was added. That time, some painters thought the girl’s downer lip color was a bit transparent, so the other painters just wanted to help to add it back. But when the color was really added on, the painters thought the color was nastier than ever before. Then, they realized that the transparent lips were made on purpose. The artist had made the lips look transparent, and not so red like the other parts of the lips of the girl.

The Girl With A Pearl Earring is a painting made by Johannes Veneeer, and has traveled many places in the world. It was put in many museums and there were always crowds. It also makes us wonder what has happened in the painting and who might be talking to the Girl. The pearl earring symbolizes light, and the darkness surrounding it means a dark path. Together, it talks about finding brightness in darkness. The Girl With the Pearl Earring makes us think a lot about the painting, and I recommend you to see this painting.
