The story Secret Garden, written by Frances Hodgson Burnett, talks about a girl with a fiery temper, and how she had to move to her uncle’s house and how she explores new things, including a secret garden that no one had come into for ten years. Mary discovers that she has a sickly cousin named Colin, and also becomes friends with Dickon, the maid’s younger brother. Together, they helped Colin recover from his illness and he learned to walk. Mary’s uncle had come back from traveling, and was very surprised to learn that his child could walk! Afterwards, Colin remarked that the secret garden made magic to make himself better.
I would also like a garden, and name it Garden of Love. Inside, I would plant many trees, and also flowers. There will be aconites that grow widely, and cover the garden. Its scientific name is called Aconitum napellus, and it has a sweet but spicy taste, and even though it doesn’t look like a pepper, it tastes like one. Aconites look like purple horns, and they smell good, too. In my garden, there will also be the anemone, that includes 120 types of species of flowers, but the most common types found in North America come in white, pink or violet hues, like a beautiful dress worn around it. Found in tea and herbal remedies, the stem of the Angelica can be made into lovely sweet candy.
Not only aconites or anemone flowers, there will also be many more different kinds of flowers. This one is called the ageratum. Also known as Flossflower, Ageratums come in blue, pink and white blooms, like a beautiful rainbow growing on the ground. There is also the Allium, which can come in five different varieties. They are known primarily for their tall stems and large, spherical heads, like a flurry pingpang ball. There will be a real pool, with lilies growing in, also a flower pool. I will also want to plant the Angelonia in my garden, as they look like many strong smelling flower guards, and of course I want guards in my garden, to keep away any enemies.
The way my garden patterns around, it is very pretty. When we go to the door, the key is always on the doorknob so it is easy to open. Inside the garden, there are two areas, including a nature area and rest area. In the nature area, we can enjoy all kinds of flowers, and watch them grow up, slowly, and can also plant more flowers. There, we can learn that nature’s beauty can be better than skyscrapers, too. The real pond including the lilies are there, and we can have cute animals like ducks and ducklings inside the pond. In the rest area, we have a flower bed, lots more colorful flowers, and a telescope to see stars at night. My garden should be a fine, natural, place.
In the Secret Garden, the garden Mary discovered is full of wildness and some animals, but my garden is a bit controlled, not so tidy and not so wild. A garden needs plants of every kind, and we should take care of it, as we are responsible for the garden and its health. Also we can learn about different kinds of flowers and how to take care of them, and they smell nice with our feelings being nice, too. Nature should be as it always is, but it is getting hard to protect them when we have to face the rusty truth: people knock down forests to make more land for themselves. But if we work together and help spread seeds of nature, the world will be more fresh.
