In the story of Death of an Englishman, While the Marshal recovers, Bacci does to see the body where it was and tries to see what had happened but before he could do anything Marshal called Bacci to see what's happening and he rushed to the site even with the flu. They talked to the neighbors and the youngest kid of the neighbor said she heard the sound of bang bang when the others heard nothing. The police apprehend Cesarini, an antique dealer from the first floor, as he enters the Englishman's flat in the middle of the night with two other men, believing he is involved in the murder and illegal trade. There is, however, no evidence linking Cesarini to any crime. Finally, the Marshal sends Cipolla, who tells him that his wife worked for the Englishman who refused to pay her. Cipolla had shot him almost by accident, in a state of rage and grief.
Marshal is a very problematic person, during the investigation he has never trusted Bacci because Bacci is the assistant of Marshal. Marshal Guarnaccia, has an issue with Bacci because of the role in their jobs. If Bacci were to succeed it would make the Marshal look bad as he was supposed to lead each investigation. If Bacci was to fail in the project then it was also because of Marshal for not educating and teaching him enough and letting him go out alone to investigate a case. Marshal is also very problematic in his personality, he often would despise his workers and never accept good ideas from Bacci. In the story, Bacci was very capable of doing many things like how he chased the person through the entire street.
Guarnaccia is very thoughtful when investigating. In the story, Guarnaccia had the idea to find each neighbor and confront them and he also said to go to nearby places to see if anyone noticed the victim. Marshal has excellent ideas but never appreciates others’ ideas, which makes him a bad teacher. This character makes the book entirely more interesting due to his personality and we can see how hard Bacci tried to get his and the other’s approval. Through working extra hard and socializing with the inspectors. It is important to listen to other peoples ideas so this is why the writer created marshal’s personality as this. It is important to appreciate and acknowledge about other people’s opinion on things even if its in contrast to what you have.
Marshal looks to be a caring, devoted man who likes crime-solving more than sleeping. He would rather work crimes than rest even when he's ill because he is a very conscious man who committed himself to workplace investigations. Marshal’s ambition led him to many great successes but also failed because his ambition was too driven that it was overheard by other people’s opinions which causes no other or interesting idea to be used ever in the investigation since the chief inspector and inspector comes. When it comes to crime solving no one is more eager to marshal. It is important to be able to doo your job correctly and efficiently even if having disagreement with workers. This shows that we need to face problems and not be held by the other ones. We should never because of one problem to give up on our previous and most important job and work that we should be doing.
