A school is both the educational institution and building designed to provide learning spaces and learning environments for the teaching of students under the direction of teachers. Most countries have systems of formal education. In these systems, students progress through a series of schools that can be built and operated by both government and private organizations. There are numerous kinds of schools; the most common are public, private, and homeschooling. They all include primary school for young children and secondary school for teenagers who have completed primary education. An institution where higher education is taught is called a university university. Education in China is managed by the state-run public education system, which falls under the ministry of education. All citizens must attend school for a minimum of nine years, known as the nine-year compulsory education, which is funded by the government.
Public schools are learning institutions that are funded by local, state and/or federal governments. They offer general education opportunities to children in kindergarten through grade 12, and extracurricular activities are also part of many public school programs. Public school curricula usually are developed on the district level, but they must adhere to state and federal regulations. In addition to basic studies in reading, writing and arithmetic, public school students usually explore science and technology, social studies, fine arts and physical education. These studies continue on the secondary level; however, middle and high school students also generally have the opportunity to handpick some of their courses, which can expose them to one or more foreign languages, advanced studies in science and mathematics, or vocational topics, like building trades or cosmetology, among other opportunities.
A private school is a school not administered or funded by the government, unlike a public school. Private schools are schools that are not dependent upon the national or local government to finance their financial endowment. Unless privately owned they typically have a board of governors and have a system of governance that ensures their independent operation. Private schools retain the right to select their students and are funded in whole or in part by charging their students for tuition, rather than relying on taxation through public funding; at some private schools students may be eligible for a scholarship, lowering this tuition fee, dependent on a student's talents or abilities, need for financial aid, or tax credit scholarships that might be available. Roughly one in 10 U.S. families have chosen to enroll their children in private school for the past century.
Homeschooling is the education of school-aged children at home or a variety of places other than a school. Usually conducted by a parent, tutor, or online teacher, many homeschool families use less formal, more personalized and individualized methods of learning that are not always found in schools. Homeschooling can have advantages and disadvantages. As mentioned before, homeschooling can be less formal, more personalized and individualized for some children. They can quickly adapt to their “home teaching” way. But after the grade rises, parents cannot teach unless the child’s self-learning skills are very excellent. Homeschooling should not be confused with distance education, which generally refers to the arrangement where the student is educated by and conforms to the requirements of an online school, rather than being educated independently and unrestrictedly by their parents or by themselves.
In conclusion, a school is an educational institution designed to provide learning spaces and for the teaching of students under the direction of teachers. Most countries have systems of formal education. In these systems, students progress through a series of schools that can be built and operated by both government and private organizations. My expectations of schools are that they ensure students are safe for various reasons including physical and health. The teachers should be friendly and helpful to students to make sure they are happy. Schools also need to try to attend more activities including festivals and competitions. Overall, I think a school should develop at all ways.
