Let's Talk about Education

Schools have been an important part of society since ancient times. They provide children the opportunity to be educated and the chance to find a successful career once they reach adulthood. All schools are overseen by school districts, which supervise all educational buildings in a certain neighborhood or city. They are also known as boards of education and bring certain schools together and make sure that each classroom is being run properly. However, there are different types of schools and they work in various ways.

The two main types of schools are public and private schools. Public schools, as their name suggests, are open to the public. They receive funding from federal taxes. Public schools provide various levels of education, including elementary, middle, junior high, and high school. On the other hand, many private schools were religious. In fact, just over one third of students attending private schools study in Catholic classrooms. The main reason students attend private schools is because they have limited class sizes so each child can get more attention from teachers than in a public school. In fact, the student to teacher ratio in public schools was 16 in 2015, while that fraction for private schools was just under 12. This means that private schools have 25% less students for every teacher than public ones. However, private schools have been gradually losing their grip over the schooling system because of poorer funding and as a result, higher tuition fees.

In recent years, another prominent form of education known as homeschooling has been created. This system emerged alongside the rise of computer technology. New apps such as zoom allow students to contact teachers thousands of kilometers away without walking a single step. Children being homeschooled can also choose from courses on various well-known websites. As a result of homeschooling, each student can learn at his/her own pace and avoid the risk of sickness, since studying at home means that children will not physically interact with any classmates. Homeschooling has become vastly more popular due to the covid pandemic, as it is nearly impossible to contain the rapidly spreading virus effectively in large populations. Homeschooling has a number of advantages, but the main reason it was adopted was because of health concerns.

Now we know the three types of schooling, so now it's time for the opinion part. Everybody has different feelings about which education system is the best, but I personally prefer homeschooling. As mentioned above, studying at home allows children to learn at their individual speeds. Also, students would not have to spend any time walking, biking, or riding a bus to school, so the time that transportation once took up could be devoted to studying. This would be fantastic news for many people, especially for those who live very far away from the school that they attend. I have many classes, and it would not leave me with much time left if all of them were in-person. Thanks to homeschooling, only two of my weekly classes are ones that my mother would have to drive me to. Overall, my favorite education system is homeschooling.

One of the most important things in life is education. Schools provide children the chance to find successful careers when they grow up. Even though there are different types of schools, their main purpose is to educate students and make them more knowledgeable. There are three ways children learn. One is public schools, which are low-cost but overcrowded. Private schools cost more but have less students for every teacher, and homeschooling, which allows pupils to study online. My favorite way of learning is homeschooling, as it allows me to learn from anywhere without ever having to leave the house. Schools can vary from one another drastically, but they all educate us and allow us to live a wonderful life in the future, that is, if we can take advantage of the current learning opportunities.
