Let's Talk about Bully

Bullies can have a big influence on victims life as shown in the books the fan club, tuesday of the other june, priscilla and the wimps, and don't let the bedbugs bite. The fan club is about a girl at school who is bullied by other girls but when a new girl comes in, they start bullying her instead of the original one. Later, she became the bully. Tuesday of the other June talks about a nonviolent young girl named June who is bullied because another girl has the same name. She doesn’t want to fight back because of her education but eventually does and stands up for herself. Priscilla and the wimps is a book talking about a school which is basically controlled by a gang called the kobras run by monk kobra. Priscilla originally stays to herself and Melvin but when he gets bullied , she stands up for him and defeats the whole gang. In don’t let the bedbugs bite, The parents of two girls, one victim, one bully, are going to get married so they go on a leisurely weekend where the two enemy kids can bond and they talk about their fears. This books talk about the different aspects of bullying, solutions to it, and normally family issues are the causes of these problems.

There are many factors related to the complex issue of bullying. Bullying  might involve a wide range of types, motivations, and potential solutions. Rachels is bullied for her appearance and last name. June is bullied because of how she doesn’t fight back so is vulnerable. Priscillla is secretly bullied because of her appearance. Tina has PTSD. These reasons show why these people are getting bullied even though it's an unfair reason to harass someone else. Types of bullies in Rachel's situation are 1v1. June is group vs 1. Priscilla is 1 vs all. Tina is group vs all. This tells us how different bullying can be and the amount of people involved can really change the outcome of the situation. There can also be solutions to these bullying problems, in Laura's case, she turns into a bully, worse case. On the other hand, June stands up for herself, best situation. Another way is the bullies become friends, Tina and sally. Even though there are countless ways and types of bullying, there can also be many solutions too. Understanding bullying more completely, addressing what drives it, can help us to find the most effective solutions.

In these novels, almost all the main characters are girls suffering the isolating effects of being bullied by their peers. Each story also explores how the climate and atmosphere of a given day or time interacts with and sometimes forecasts important events in the characters' lives. The weather and day for Laura was a damp monday which shows sadness and misery that corresponds to Laura's feelings and how she wants Rachel to stop bullying her. Junes is just a regular Tuesday which is the one day later in the book where she has to meet the other bully, June, at swimming. Saturday gives Sally and Tina a break from school which gives their parents, both teachers, a way to go a luxurious drive to a restaurant then a show. In the book where Priscilla beats all the bullies after her friend Mevlin is targeted, there is snow which is an extended metaphor that means cleaning the surface by covering the dirt. This shows how weather and the day of the week can have a big impact on the action that occurs. Weather and day can give us more context about the situation. The author mainly writes about female characters and skillfully describes the day or weather to mirror the feeling and situation of the characters so that the readers could connect more with them.

Reflecting on how each girl’s circumstances influenced their situation can help us understand the meaning of these books more deeplyLooking back, most of the problems stemmed from family issues such as parental separation, financial troubles , or difficult relationships. Rachel's family is poor so she is targeted by the other girls at her school. Junes' problem with the other bully Junes starts when her mom names her June which is why the other June targets her, for her name. June's mother is also very weak so this hinders her fight back. Tina and Sally's problem is also a family issue where they both have one parent and the bully is angry about it so talks it out on the other even though it isn’t right. These family issues are usually the parents' problems so it's not the kids fault but result in him or her being a bully or victim. This reflecting on the issue in all these books allows us to see new perspectives we wouldn’t have thought of before. Looking at the challenges facing the characters' families provides valuable context for why they struggled with bullying. It shows how problems at home can affect their lives at school.

Bullying can have a big impact on others as shown in the four stories, the fan club, tuesday of the other june, priscilla and the wimps, and don’t let the bedbugs bite. Bullying can be caused by many factors and takes many shapes and forms or ways. It can be violent or nonviolent,  can have lots of people involved, and not only that there can be many ways to solve it. Bullying can have a big effect on the victims even if it's not obvious at first, the effect can be seen. The victims feel lonely and usually, it is a physical feature that is part of them that is why they are targeted. By reflecting on how and why bullying originated for the main female characters in these novels, as well as approaches taken to address it, readers can gain deeper understanding of central themes. The authors' symbolic use of weather and time of day to mirror inner emotional worlds connects readers and the characters. With awareness of the causes and consequences of bullying, we may prepare and find better solutions.
