Learn from JESSE OWENS

James Cleveland, also known as Jesse Owens, is an American track and field athlete. In his life, he was recognized as "perhaps the greatest and most famous athlete in the history of track and field"., He set three world records and equaled another in less than an hour. This is an unprecedented feat. Germany won four gold medals at the Berlin Summer Olympic Games and won an international reputation: 100 meters, long jump, 200 meters, and 4 meters in ×the 100m relay. He is the most successful athlete in the Olympic Games. But he is such a great athlete who returned to his motherland but was discriminated against and abused because of race. His compatriots did not applaud him for his feat or even gave him any respect only because he was black. Since then, Jesse had never participated in any world-class competition or even any formal competition. In order to make money, Owens racked against cars and horses, and he even played for the basketball exhibition team, the Harlem Globetrotters. In my opinion, when people suffer from racial discrimination, they must bravely adhere to their beliefs and strive for fair opportunities for themselves, so as to win their own success.

Stop racial discrimination and give back gifted blacks a fair chance to show themselves. Racial discrimination has killed too many talented black people's chances of creating miracles. Jesse in the article has created history with its own strength. But after returning home, due to domestic racial discrimination, he received unequal treatment and lost the chance to participate in the regular competition forever. But even in the face of such unfair treatment of racial discrimination, he did not give up. For the sake of his family, even if he ran with cars or horses, he was still proving to the world that he could run as fast as he could. The existence of racial discrimination, to a certain extent, limits the ability of gifted black people to show, so racial discrimination should be stopped as soon as possible, and everyone should be given a fair opportunity to show, regardless of his color.

In the face of discrimination, we should be brave to be ourselves and not give up our dreams easily. In real life, most people who are discriminated against may easily surrender to bullies. Few people have the courage to stick to their beliefs, try to show their strength with practical actions, and try to realize their dreams when they are attacked and discriminated against by the public language. In the article, in the face of the discrimination of the public, Jesse showed enough courage to face the difficulties, bravely adhere to his beliefs, and bravely fight against unfair treatment with actions. Although he could not participate in the official competition, because he was black, he couldn't stand on the starting line of fairness he still tried to run, leaving prejudice and racial discrimination far behind, and he ran bravely for himself.

What is true success? Success is not how great achievements you have ever made. Success is not how high you have stood on the podium. Success is not how many people cheer for you at the highlight of your life. The real success is that you can persist in being the best you can be no matter if you are in good times or bad times and don't give up your faith. In Jesse’s life, most people will feel that when he broke the record in the Olympic Games, it was a successful moment in his life. When he returned home, because of all kinds of unfair treatment, he never had a chance to appear in the international arena. People would feel that his life was becoming increasingly poor. He even had to race with cars and horses to earn money to support his family. But I saw Jesse’s success. Even though he was oppressed by racial discrimination and could not show his athletic talent in the official competition, he still used his legs to prove that he still could run as fast as he could. As a black man, Jesse had the courage to face racial discrimination under the background of the era at that time. I think he successfully used his own actions to fight against racial discrimination, awaken more black people, and fight against racial discrimination together. He is the “Real Hero” for Black Americans.

In conclusion, all kinds of prejudices and racial discrimination are not desirable. People should be born equal and should not let racial discrimination divide people. People of any color should be respected. People of all colors should stand on the same starting line of life equally and enjoy the right to win their own life equally. I really admire a brave and determined person like Jesse. Jesse Owens was a remarkable American. He pulled himself up from very humble beginnings and struggled with racial discrimination. He succeeded to prove himself to be not only a fantastic athlete but a truly admirable and brave black man of solid character. We should start with ourselves, and respect people of any color. No matter in good times or bad times, we should stick to our faith and be the best of ourselves. Your life is successful.
