Here’s My Dollar is written by Gari Soto. It mainly talks about a little nine-year old girl called Angel, and she is motivating everyone to donate money for the Chaffee Zoo. At first, Angel sent a letter to the Fresno Bee Newspaper and gave them a dollar. Later on, the news spread and she was able to motivate everyone to donate dollars for the zoo. The Chaffee Zoo was delighted at Angel's help, and they invited her to have a special tour.
In order to do charity, we don’t have to be famous, an adult or have a lot of or a huge amount of money. By contributing to a cause, we are working towards making the world a better place. The donation of our time, money, or items goes to those who need it most. In the book, Angel is not an adult, she isn’t famous, and she is neither very rich. But, she tried to motivate everyone to donate money in order to see a better Chaffee Zoo. One of the major positive effects of donating money to charity is simply feeling good about giving. Being able to give back to those in need of help can let us achieve a greater sense of personal satisfaction. Therefore, donating is good for the people in need.
When we compare our traits to the main character’s, we can find that doing a charity deed is actually pretty easy. You can first write a letter, then send it to some famous place so everyone can know it, and later they will be motivated to do the same. It’s just that simple. In the book, Angel wrote a letter, sended it to the newspaper, and she succeeded in motivating everyone to follow her. It was so easy and not at all difficult. We can also be like Angel and help others. The thing is, we need to start from little things, one at a time. Therefore, we need to do whatever we can to help people in need.
Sometimes there are more ways in modern society or the society we live now with the development of science and technology work. Alongside fundraising, digital technology is also being used to streamline and improve processes within charities. In the book, although the author doesn’t talk about technology donation, Angel still donated money in a good way. Technology donation will happen in the future or now. Before, donating was by letter to letter to donate. Now, we can just sit there, and let the technology do its job. Therefore, in the future, we can see more advanced technology for donation.
In conclusion, donating money has three different aspects: we don’t have to be famous to do charity, we can do charity by some little things, and in the future there will be advanced technology, then we can do charity more easily. So, if we want to do charity, then we can do it from little things, step by step, and advance into big ones. That’s how we can motivate everyone to donate charity and do the deed.
