How Successful Marketing

In all businesses, people’s main goal is always maximizing the benefits, but how can we achieve this goal? The success or failure of a business much depends on a successful marketing. Some entrepreneurs use a variety of marketing methods to increase the sales and profits for their products. But not all the marketing methods can be use and succeed. It depended on if the ways of marketing are appropriate, and impressive enough to ensure that the consumers are willing to consume on the product. Because of some entrepreneurs who used inappropriate methods of marketing, various of consumers were gradually having misdoubts on some of the marketing methods. Even though this situation did happen, there are still effective ways that can help a successful marketing to occur. Being honest with the consumers is very crucial, honesty during marketing can directly be linked to the product’s reputation. Although we need to describe the product as attractive as we can, exaggerating the products’ real function must be prohibited. We shouldn’t market a product against its actual function, neither better nor worse. Imagine if the product was a vacuum cup, its real function was to keep the water in its original temperature through the cup. But in the advertisement, the vacuum cup had been exaggerated as a cup that can increase the temperature of water gradually. The fake function after exaggeration might attract consumers’ attention, but the product will then be criticized for the fake promotion, and causes negative impacts on the reputation. Fake promotion is a kind of deception for the consumers, which is disadvantageous for marketing. Every seller should show their honesty when promoting the product, so that the reputation of the product can be good, and successful marketing occurs.


When marketing, we have to find our customer base, which is the group of people who can afford and demand the product. We have to spot this group of people, so we can ensure that our product can be sold out successfully to the people who need it as a requirement. For example, our product is milk powder. In society, the group of people who have the requirement of a lot of milk powders are mothers who have a new born baby, so we can set advertisements in places where this group of people can notice our product, like in the supermarkets, or on TV’s. If we were selling jewelry, then our group of consumers must be the ones who are rich and wealthy, because they are the people who can afford the expensive jewelry, and they are willing to spend money on it. In order to let them notice about our product, we can set the advertisements near the luxury stores and in the shopping mall, where the wealthy people often went to. Selling the product as much as we can to the group of people who are connected with the product, can increase both the sales amount and profits.


Thinking from the consumer’s perspective can help us to produce and advertise our product effectively. We made the product for the consumers who need it, the profits and benefits we get depends on the sales amount. The products that consumers were interested in can produce a high sales amount. For example, if we want to produce a product that students need, a school bag. But the school bag was too common for the students, and it has no attraction to them. So, we have to think like we are the consumers, what kind of school bags do we want if we are students? Perhaps a waterproof school bag, because the students might really need it when it was raining cats and dogs. After thinking from the consumer’s perspective, we knew what they actually needed and what product can make them impressive. This helps on the sales amount, which brings the increase of profits and benefits.


In conclusion, the success or failure of a business depends on successful marketing. Being honest with the consumers is very crucial, honesty during marketing can directly be linked to the product’s reputation. Every seller should show their honesty when promoting the product, so that the reputation of the product can be good, and successful marketing occurs.
