The situation before the railway was built was bad because there was a gold rush, and everyone was going there. But the problem is that a long time ago, people were together so they didn’t need to travel far, so they walked, took boats, or rode on horses. But the thing is their technology is not that advanced, and the gold rush was far so we knew how hard it is. Many people also died trying to get rich, since it was a long way. The poor people could only walk using their feet. Many died of starvation. Only some came back rich, and alive.
They wanted to expand the west because it was a new place, and many people wanted to claim land there. So many Americans, wanted to get rich, and live in a new place. They found out that there were also many gold there, and they wanted to be rich, and live a good life with their family. Many husbands, and fathers left alone to try and get money. Many of them failed. It is really risky. But they still have a chance. Some only go there to claim property.
The construction first started at 1863, and ended at 1869. This was the first railroad ever constructed. It took a shocking 6 years, and in addition it was only by hands. Now we have trucks that can help us carry materials, technology is getting more advanced. One day, there would be robots doing the job, no more humans. We now already could fly, and figure out how people lived in the past. We could entertain ourselves on pieces of glass. Isn’t that cool? A railway costs around 2 million dollars. And it was the first railway, it must be very advanced in the future for the people in the past! Imagine how much that would cost!
The consequence is that many people died during the construction. Since the technoledy is getting advanced, it is still not that advanced yet. We have robots now that can do the dangerous work for us, and we have many protecting suites. But in the past, they don’t really have anything. The workers are just wearing a shirt, and doing their thing. Even now building railways causes some death. Imagine in the past were there was nothing, imagine how many people died! The advantage is that now they can learn how to carry stuff easier. And in addition, they invented something new! They kept doing it, and now we are very good at building trains. The ways improved during the years.
I think doing the the first transitional railway is good because now we know how to make trains. And our technology is very advanced. Without the first transitional railway, we might not be this advanced. We will have iphones but we won’t have trains. Imagine about all the books and movies about trains, What would Harry Potter do? Make a airplane instead of a train? It would be so weird! Without trains people could only use airplanes, and boats to travel. And they are expensive, even for a small distance they will have to it! Without trains, our money would be gone in minutes. History is important, so important that it is even now a subject in school.
