How Did Railway Unite the USA?

Because of the railroad, people travel easier. Before the railroad was built people had to take a lot and lots and lots of hours to get from one place to another. Even with wagons, horses, and boats. As more settlers arrived, they needed a better way to travel.if they had created railroads it would have been better.

The Americans started to expand to the west. The east was not as easy to get by walking, riding a horse, or using a wagon. People don’t know about the west very much. They can create lands of their own. New areas like Oregon territory offered rich land for those who could travel there. People who dreamed of getting rich got there.

America's first steam locomotive made its debut in 1830, and over two decades, railroad tracks linked many cities on the east coast. By 1850 some 9,000 miles of track had been laid east of the Missouri river. One estimate places the of the central pacific at about $36 million, another at $51.5 million. Oaks Ames testified the union pacific cost about $60 to build.

Now with the railroad, we can travel more easily and not be more complicated. It instilled national confidence. The transcontinental railroad had a major effect on how Americans perceived their nation, and it became a symbol of America’s growing industrial power and a source of confidence that led them to take on even more ambitious quests.

If you are in America, you should see the railroads. That would remind you how Theodore Judah built the long railroad to make traveling easier for the Americans and made people happier.
