Many years ago people had introduced a car that seemed to be completely environment friendly, that was called electric cars. Electric cars are cars that run, only on energy and not on gas, as regular cars were. The first simple and the most primitive electric car was made by William Morris, in 1890. This car could fit in six passengers and the max speed is 14 miles per hour. Currently the most famous type of electric cars are made by the company call, Tesla. You could even charge the car in your home and you don’t need to go to the gas station if you have one. Now, many people in the world already have an electric vehicle in their hands, and it’s nothing new in the world now. Even though many people have claimed the advantages of electric vehicles, it is simply not the case.
There are many safety threats that eclectic cars may pose to humans. A very dangerous thing that electric cars can cause is high-voltage shock hazards. This is caused by the batteries in the car, which may cause fires in the car. Around 4000 car fires are caused by electric cars. There is also a possibility that the car would actually even cause an explosion. These problems are inevitable and can happen any time you are driving. Also, electric cars can also cause harm because when driving, it is always pretty silent. Engines that have cars make a lot of noise within the car, but with electric cars, it is basically pretty quiet. This silence in the car may have caused many accidental crashes. Some people don’t know that their cars are moving and crash into a wall. Also, when people are on the road, it is pretty hard to hear if electric cars are there. These harms that electric cars will cause many deaths.
Even though electric cars may seem like it is environmentally friendly, it actually causes more harm to the environment. The materials needed to build an electric car are usually far beneath the ground. Digging up all the materials from the ground causes a lot of climate change in the world. Also, the process of making electric cars is not environmentally friendly at all. 18 percent of the greenhouse gasses caused by electric cars is caused by the production of electric cars. Making a battery for an electric car will cause a lot of harm to the environment. The resources that these batteries use are deep beneath the ground. Things like coal that is needed for production causes 60 percent of the country's pollution. This is a lot of pollution that can be caused by the production of electric vehicles. Even though the emissions by driving it may be less, the production outweighs the total emissions.
Cost of things and how much you pay in this may affect your life a lot. Even though it seems like the costs of electric cars are better because of the price of gas these days, it is still more expensive than gasoline driven cars. The cost of even having an electric car is more than having a gas car. Electric cars cost 749 dollars more than gas vehicles annually. On average a car will drive three cents per a mile. Also, the cost of repairing your electric cars will cost more. Teslas cost 1347 dollars more in repairs than a gasoline car. This means that if something happens to an electric vehicle, it would cost way more to repair than a regular car. In mid-2023 the average cost of an electric vehicle cost 12000 dollars more than gasoline cars. Having an electric car would cost a lot more than having a regular car.
Electric cars have not been the best alternatives for gasoline cars in the future. This essay talks about the cons of electric cars in three ways, the safety threats, the environmental impacts of the car, and the cost of the car. There are many safety threats that can come up when driving an electric car. The car could easily explode because of the lithium battery inside the car. Also, with the silence of the car people won’t be able to easily hear when a car is coming in the distance. Many people in the world think that electric cars will be better for the environment, but in the real world, the manufacturing of electric cars causes way more pollution in the world. Lastly, the cost of the car will be much more. For all these reasons, I think that electric cars are worse than regular cars.
