Electric Cars Come into People’s Lives, Good or Bad?

Electric cars are a new invention that is useful for many things, but they aren’t really as good as the ads claim. They may seem quite amazing and high-tech, but gasoline powered cars have millions of hours of usage and are quite sturdy. Electric cars often can’t go as far as a single gasoline powered car on one charge or a full tank of gas. Gasoline stations are also much more common, but charging stations built for cars are very rare, and implementing them costs money. The charging time is also immense, and if it gets too cold, the engine will freeze and fail. The charging time takes a long time, and leaving it out overnight won’t be an option when it’s the colder seasons like winter or fall. The price of gas compared to electricity is also lower, making gas cars cheaper and more common. Electric cars may be new and innovative, but ultimately gas powered cars have the overall success for its efficiency.

First of all, electric cars don’t go as far as gas cars do on just one full battery or one full tank of gas, because gas cars are more efficient. In order to travel long distances, you have to have enough fuel to get there and back, but if an electric car tried to travel a long distance, it would run out of charge once it gets to its destination without a single charging station in sight. But a gasoline powered car has many ways to refuel its tank. According to Smappen, if someone wanted to travel from New York to Washington, DC, an electric car would be able to get there, but wouldn’t be able to come back. However, a gasoline powered car could easily get there, refuel, and come back. According to Motor, “The U.S. averages about 104 gas pumps per 1,000 road miles, compared to just 22 EV charging ports as the popularity of electric vehicles rises.” This means it’ll be quite rare to find an electric charging port on any given path before the battery runs out, and if you do, it will still be more inefficient than quick gas cars. Gas cars can travel farther and longer than electric cars because they have more ability to fuel up, and they are more fuel efficient.

Gas cars take just a minute or two to get a full tank of gas, but electric cars will take hours and hours in order to charge. Electric cars need to be plugged in for hours at a time to get a good amount of charge, but gasoline powered cars are much quicker and take less than a minute to get to a full tank of gas. According to Pod Point, “A typical electric car (60kWh battery) takes just under 8 hours to charge from empty-to-full with a 7kW charging point.” This means it will take nearly 8 hours just to get some battery, and leaving it overnight to charge can be difficult considering the fact that the engine could freeze up in colder wintery conditions. And according to the American Petroleum Institute, “the average fill-up takes only two minutes.” This means that a gas car fuels up 240 times the speed an electric car charges up. The speed a gas car fuels up makes it a lot better and more efficient than an electricity powered car.

Electricity for an electric car costs quite a lot, but gas cars can actually be cheaper, especially since electric cars are much newer, making it so that electric cars cost more initially than gas cars. Electric cars, because they are a new type of technology, take much more effort to manufacture, and therefore, take more money to purchase. Gas cars are reliable and have been around for hundreds of years, and so they have perfected their design to make them easy to make and very cheap. According to Find My Electric, Currently, most estimates put the average price of a new EV somewhere around $50,798” However, it costs less than 34 thousand dollars for a gasoline-powered car, making it so that gas cars are cheaper, and according to Self, “When factoring in purchase cost, the average cost of an EV is $11,746 each year assuming a purchase period of six years; for a gas car the average purchase cost is $8,281 per year.” Clearly, due to the price difference, electric cars aren’t as good as gasoline-powered cars.

Gasoline powered cars are better than electric cars due to their reliability, their price, and the speed and efficiency. Gasoline powered cars have been around for longer, therefore they have more gas stations to fuel up, and they can also travel for longer. They are also cheaper to purchase, because due to the fact that electric cars are newer technology, they cost a lot more. Finally, gasoline powered cars fuel up in minutes, but electric cars take hours. Electric cars may seem to have incredible advantages, but gasoline cars ultimately
