Electric Cars Come into People’s Life (Cons)

As the environmental problem becomes a more and more serious question, people have tried many methods to reduce carbon emissions. People develop natural resources to help make more energy to use instead of always relying on fossil fuels. Wind turbines and solar panels and all the things that do not produce greenhouse gasses are all the things that people need to use for reducing emissions. For our transportation, to not use gasoline to give energy to the car, people invent electric cars. It’s a really good way to produce energy and many governments make a lot of welfare to buy more electric cars instead of normal cars. However, everything has two sides, there are still some disadvantages to driving electric cars.

First, electric cars cost less to operate, but this also brings up another point that most people refuse to buy an electric car, a higher initial purchase. Because it remains a significantly more expensive price than normal cars, this makes them out of the acceptable price range for some consumers. Even though it might save more money on cars by saving fuel expenses, a lower prime cost could lead to a higher purchase price. From the statistics online, the price gap between equivalent models seems to be around $10000. The price might go down when the technique is more developed. But now, it’s still expensive for some consumers to buy it.

Secondly, electric cars need to make sure there’s a place for charging or changing batteries to make sure they have enough energy to move, but usually, it’s not very convenient in some cities. We know that electric cars are propelled by one or more electric motors which are stored inside onboard batteries. They release no emissions and are quieter, they also tend to have a low cost of ownership, but it’s decided on where you live. Also, you need to plug in to recharge the battery so that it’ll have enough electricity to use. In some places, especially rural areas and suburbs, it might be hard to find a place to plug in to recharge the battery or change the battery. It’s really inconvenient and will cause some other problems such as if you forget to charge the battery or the battery runs out, it’ll be trouble for you based on there’s less and further between charging stations than gas stations. Charging electric cars is harder and takes you more time than filling up in a gas station.

As electric cars use electricity to produce energy and disseminate that they release no carbon emissions, there are still emissions from electric stations. Even though we know that electric cars are really environmentally friendly, the stations (or batteries) are not environmentally friendly. The stations need to burn either fossil fuel or other natural resources like wind turbines, which are also a little harmful to the environment, to produce the electricity for the electric cars. Isn’t it roughly the same thing with cars that use gasoline to produce energy? People tried to use less conventional cars because we release too many emissions so they suggest more people drive electric cars. But usually, people just consider if the car produces exhaust emissions or not, but not the whole thing. The exhaust emissions that are released by the conventional car that the energy is from gasoline and the emissions that are produced by electric stations that is from combustion is almost the same. So, it’s probably the same as what conventional cars produce and affect the environment.

As a conclusion, electric cars come into people’s lives, it brings us benefits but also problems. Nothing in the world is perfect, so when we discuss something, we need to consider both sides of it. Electric cars do reduce noise pollution, can charge at home, also electric energy is cheaper compared to fossil fuels. However, electric cars also have some disadvantages. It might not be as environmentally friendly as the companies claimed, and is more expensive to purchase at first yet it is cheaper afterward. In addition, it will be a problem to plug in to recharge the battery when you are in rural areas and suburbs. As a result, electric cars also contain many problems and are not that perfect to use in people’s lives.
